To prevent bleeding after delivery:

✅Give injection oxytocin before delivery of the placenta

✅ Deliver the placenta by controlled cord traction

✅Rub up contraction of the uterus (uterine massage)

✅Suture all tears

✅ Empty the bladder frequently

✅ Continue to monitor the patient

What can make a pregnant woman bleed much

after delivery?

1. Tone: This happens when the uterus is not

well contracted after delivery.

2. Trauma: Caused by cervical tear, va**nal tear,

tear outside of the va**na around the va**nal

opening.

3. Tissue: When the placenta or it's tissues are

retained in the uterus after delivery.

4. Thrombin: Bleeding or clotting disorders.

All these can be handled by a skilled or trained

birth attendant.

Always make sure there is a skilled birth

attendant during the time of your delivery.

What can make a pregnant woman bleed as

from 20wks of pregnancy ( Antepartum

Haemorrhage):

1. Low lying placenta called placenta praevia

2. Detachment or separation of the placenta

from the womb called Abruptio placenta.

3. When you have exposed fetal vessels lying

close to the mouth of the womb known as

Vasa praevia ( They bleed easily).

All these can be detected if you register early

for antenatal.
