Our Executive Director, Oluwaseun Odunsi, , took the stage at the National Health Dialogue to discuss how HelpMum is bridging the gap in accessing health information and ensuring early risk detection in pregnancy.

In Nigeria, access to comprehensive healthcare services remains very uneven and complex, while urban centres host majority of the best health facilities, many rural communities are left to strained primary healthcare centres (PHCs) and inadequately skilled community health extension workers.

Our suite of solutions deployed to meet these challenges include the HelpMum chatbot, StratifyAI, The E-learning platforms and Open Source models, which combined has a user base of around 400,000.

Organised by in collaboration with , , and , and supported by the , this event is setting the stage for a stronger health system into 2026.

We are proud to spotlight the vital work of our Katsina State Officer, Dooshima Orafa.

She visited five primary health facilities in Batagarawa and Katsina local government to introduce mothers, caregivers, and health workers to our free vaccination and maternal health tools: The HelpMum vaccination tracker and chatbot.

Katsina is in a region with one of the highest numbers of zero-dose children in Nigeria. A key reason being a critical gap in information and access.

Our state officers’ on-the-ground work at the frontlines is the first step in closing this gap, ensuring every mother and health worker has the information they need to protect themselves and their children.

The most critical gap in healthcare isn’t always distance. Often times, it’s access to the right information.

When a mother has an urgent question at midnight, she can’t wait for a clinic to open. This information gap is a direct barrier to better health outcomes.

That’s why we built our solution directly into WhatsApp, a platform widely used by Nigerians.

Our chatbots deliver expert-vetted health information, 24/7.

This week, our ADVISER immunization outreach, alongside health workers from Enuwa PHC, brought vaccines directly to families in Ilare Community, Osun State.

After the community outreach, the team returned to the clinic to give the newborn babies their first-ever vaccines before they went home.

Our goal with these outreaches remains to ensure last-mile delivery and reach every child who would otherwise not have access to them.

Africa’s healthcare $54B AI opportunity is blocked by a significant data gap.

Without AI models built within the local context, we are left with generic AI that does not understand our unique needs, which is dangerous when 70% of global maternal deaths occur within the continent.

That’s why we built our open-source models, MamaBot-Llama & Vax-Llama, trained on local data to provide safe, accurate, and culturally-aware health guidance.

Our models have already been downloaded over 7,900 times.

Now, we invite you, developers, researchers, organizations, and innovators, to take these models and build with them.

This is our moment for local leadership.
