NOA Rivers holds social media dialogue on UNDERSTANDING THE MANDATE OF THE PUBLIC COMPLAINT COMMISSION.
The National Orientation Agency (NOA) Rivers State Directorate on Friday 21st of November, 2025 held its weekly social media dialogue with a focus on the topic: UNDERSTANDING THE MANDATE OF THE PUBLIC COMPLAINT COMMISSION.
The live Facebook event created a platform for Nigerians to learn more about the Public Complaint Commission, their mandate and the role they play in the society.
The session delved into key aspects of the commission, including how they function, how the organisation investigates complaints against government agencies and private companies, aimed at promoting social justice, and working to improve public administration by curbing abuse of power and ensuring accountability from public and private sector officials and the challenges they face in carrying out their duties.
The discussants emphasized that The Public Complaints Commission is an agency of the Federal government of Nigeria under the Presidency which acts as an Ombudsman that receives complaints of the citizenry against the government or private institutions/organization or their officials and wades in to settle issues.
Among the guest discussants were;
1. MRS. BERTHA ADOKIYE IWORIMA (DIRECTOR OF INVESTIGATION PUBLIC COMPLAINTS COMMISSION, RIVERS STATE.)
2. BARR. NNAMDI OGBODO (ASSISTANT DIRECTOR (LEGAL)PUBLIC COMPLAINTS COMMISSION. RIVERS STATE).
3. MR. IBIM GRAHAM AMIEYE (CHIEF INVESTIGATION OFFICER / SPECIAL ASSISTANT TO THE HONORABLE COMMISSIONER. PUBLIC COMPLAINTS COMMISSION RIVERS STATE).
4. MRS. PATIENCE OJOMA JOSEPH (SENIOR PROGRAMME OFFICER, NOA RIVERS STATE)
The discussants emphasized that the agency deals mostly with administrative complaints but can equally receive other complaints while they can help in channeling them to the appropriate quarters where they can be resolved while also following up to ensure that justice prevails in the matter.
In order to ensure that more people are aware of the commission and their duties, the discussants suggested that there should be adequate financial support from government and collaboration with other agencies like the NOA to sensitize and enlighten people in the country especially those at the grassroot level.
Anchored by Mr. HENRY TERNA AYEDE, the hour-long program encouraged audience participation, with live comments and questions driving a dynamic, interactive and informative conversation.
