If you are living with Hepatitis B, your liver is already working overtime to keep the virus in check. The last thing you want to do is add more problems, work or poison.
To prevent Liver Cancer, and other deadly complications, you must strictly AVOID these 5 danger zones.
1. Alcohol (The #1 Enemy) There is no "safe amount" of alcohol for a Hepatitis B carrier. Whether it is beer, wine, or spirits, alcohol causes direct inflammation.
Combining Hep B with alcohol increases your risk of developing Cirrhosis and Liver Cancer by over 10 times compared to a non-drinker.
2. Herbal Concoctions ("Agbo" & Unverified Roots) "Natural" does not always mean "Safe." Many herbal mixtures sold locally contain unknown toxins that can damage the liver (hepatotoxicity).
Your liver struggles to break down these complex chemicals. We see many cases of "Acute-on-Chronic" liver failure caused by herbal drinks. Stick to orthodox medicine prescribed by your doctor.
3. Moldy Grains & Nuts (Aflatoxins) Be very careful with stale groundnuts, old corn, or poorly stored "kulikuli." These often contain a mold by-product called Aflatoxin.
Aflatoxin is a known carcinogen. In West Africa, the combination of Hepatitis B and Aflatoxin is the leading cause of Liver Cancer in young people.
4. Smoking Ci******es are not just bad for your lungs; they are terrible for your liver.
Smoking creates oxidative stress that accelerates scarring (fibrosis) in the liver, speeding up the journey toward cancer.
5. Excess Sugar & Fried Foods Avoid a diet high in processed carbohydrates and bad fats.
This leads to "Fatty Liver." If your liver is already fighting Hepatitis B, adding fat cells to it creates a "double hit" effect that inflames the liver faster than the virus could alone.
