Massage is such a beautiful way to relax and reconnect with your body, but when you’re actively breastfeeding, it’s important to take a little extra care. Here’s why 👇🏽

1. Your body is still adjusting.
During breastfeeding, your hormones and circulation are constantly shifting. A massage increases blood and lymph flow, which can sometimes make your breasts feel fuller or cause a bit of leakage.

2. Pressure on the breasts can be uncomfortable.
If your breasts are full, lying face down can press against the milk ducts and cause soreness or even blockages. That’s why it’s best to feed or express before your session, so you’re more comfortable.

3. Some oils aren’t breastfeeding-friendly.
Certain essential oils—like peppermint, sage, or jasmine—can actually reduce milk supply or pass through to the baby. When working with a breastfeeding mum, I always stick to gentle, baby-safe oils or unscented blends.

4. Hydration is key.
Massage helps the body release tension and toxins, so you’ll need to drink plenty of water afterwards to stay balanced and keep your milk flow steady.

5. Gentle touch, mindful care.
Every new mum deserves to feel nurtured, not pressured. With the right positioning, soft techniques, and awareness, massage can still be a safe, soothing experience.
