The day someone paid me 45k to deep clean a one-bedroom flat was my validation.
Let me tell you why.
When I left banking to start a cleaning business, it didn’t make sense to many people. Banking sounded secure. Cleaning sounded… like mediocrity.
Some people openly asked,
“Why leave the office for this?”
But that day, when a client agreed to pay 45k for a one-bedroom apartment, I felt a different kind of confidence.
Not because it was a huge contract.
Not because it was millions.
But because it was confirmation.
Confirmation that people would pay for quality.
Confirmation that this new path could stand.
Confirmation that I didn’t make a mistake.
I remember finishing that job tired but proud. When the client saw the transformation and was happy, I knew this was more than just cleaning.
It was value.
It was service.
It was a business.
Many people ignore “small” jobs because they are waiting for big opportunities. They want large offices, estates, and corporate contracts immediately.
But every strong business starts somewhere.
If one person can trust you, others will.
If one job goes well, more will come.
Growth does not jump; it builds.
That one-bedroom flat was a sign that this would work.
Any legitimate venture that has yielded one naira can yield trillions.
Today, we handle bigger spaces and more clients, but I will never forget that first 45k. It gave me belief.
Never look down on your starting point.
Do it well.
Evolve.
Stay consistent.
Let your work speak.
The results will grow.
