SHOULDER JOINT

Rotator Cuff Syndrome refers to a group of conditions affecting rotator cuff — the group of four muscles and their tendons that stabilize and move the shoulder joint. These conditions typically involve inflammation, impingement, or tearing of these tendons.

CAUSES
Rotator cuff syndrome can be caused by:
1.Repetitive overhead activities (e.g., athletes, painters, construction workers)
2.Age-related degeneration (common in people over 40)
3.Trauma or sudden injury (e.g., falling on an outstretched arm)
4.Poor posture-leading to shoulder impingements

SYMPTOMS
1.Shoulder pain (especially when lifting arm overhead or lying on the shoulder)
2. Weakness in the arm or shoulder
3. Limited range of motion
4. Clicking or popping sounds
5. Night pain (particularly disturbing sleep)


TREATMENT
1. Rest and activity modification

A cervicogenic headache is a type of headache that originates from issues in the cervical spine (neck). Unlike primary headaches like migraines or tension headaches, cervicogenic headaches are secondary, meaning they result from an underlying physical problem—in this case, in the neck structures.

Causes

Cervicogenic headaches are often caused by:

Dysfunction in cervical vertebrae, especially C1-C3

Degenerative disc disease

Neck injuries (e.g., whiplash)

Poor posture (e.g., from prolonged desk work)

Arthritis in the cervical spine

Symptoms

Pain usually starts in the neck or back of the head and can spread to the front

One-sided head pain (but can be bilateral)

Pain triggered or worsened by neck movement or sustained neck positions

Reduced range of motion in the neck

Possible shoulder or arm pain on the same side

No typical migraine features like nausea or aura (but may coexist)

Diagnosis

Diagnosis involves:

Physical and neurological exams

Diagnostic nerve blocks (e.g., blocking cervical nerves to see if headache improves)

Imaging (MRI, CT) to rule out other causes

Treatment
