For this year, it is today 7th May, 2024 and the team is "Asthma Education Empowers”

Asthma is a chronic condition that affects the airways. It causes wheezing and can make it hard to breathe.

ASTHMA TRIGGERS
Airborne allergens, such as pollen, dust mites, mold spores, pet dander or particles of cockroach waste.

Respiratory infections, such as the common cold.

Physical activity.

Cold air.

Air pollutants and irritants, such as smoke.

ADVICE TO ASTHMATIC PATIENTS
📌Avoid things that trigger asthma.
📌Avoid going to places that trigger asthma.
📌Do not self medicate.
📌Make sure your inhaler is close to you always.
📌Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before taking any asthma medicine or inhaler.

WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU DEWORMED❓

Having answered the question in your mind or battling with your thought to figure out the answer to the question,😄let's dive into the Topic of today "DEWORMING"
I am going to make it as simple as possible, just read through to the end and share for others to learn.

What is Deworming?
Deworming is simply the process of eliminating intestinal parasites, such as worms, using medication to give you a healthy digestive system.

How often should one deworm?
Two times a year, or every six months, beginning at the age of two years.

How does one know when to deworm?
When you experience symptoms such as abdominal pain, gas and bloating, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, unexplained weight loss.

Advice:
👉If you have not dewormed for long, run to your Pharmacist or any other healthcare provider to prescribe the best anthelminth that suits you.
👉Practice good hygiene; wash or sanitize your hands often.
👉Avoid raw or cooked foods that are dirty; wash thoroughly before ingesting raw food if you must.

BLOOD TYPE🌡️(0+-,A+-,B+-,AB+-) INCOMPATIBILITY WITH FOOD🥗

The questions are:
1. What is your blood group❓
2. Which food is not compatible with your blood type❓

The food items you consume react chemically with your blood, and work differently to satisfy the nutritional needs basis for your blood type.

By following a diet designed especially for your blood type, you will observe that you’ll be able to lose or gain weight easily, have more energy, have better digestion and be less susceptible to common diseases.

Certain diet are good for certain blood type while some are bad. Remember "one man's food is another man's poison."

BLOOD TYPE 🔴 (GENERAL DONORS)
They are magestic and protenious beings by nature and should consume a high protein diet. They have Fructose sugar molecules.

AVOID:
❌ Wheat 🌾 and Corn 🌽
Wheat and corn predisposes blood type O to diabetes.Every human being is made up of sugar molecules. The sugar molecule in Blood type O is fructose. One needs to eat food that contains one's type of sugar.

❌ Groundnut 🥜 and any kind of nut
Groundnut causes dizziness in blood type O.
Nuts contains Afro toxins and their body cannot digest it.

❌ Milk 🥛and Yoghurt 🧃
Milk is not a good source of protein for blood type O because Blood type O cannot break down lactose. It can cause running nose, cough and cold.

❌ Plantain 🍌
Blood type O do not need much iron because they are general donors and their blood is light by nature and if certain things that make the blood lighter is taken, you will have no clotting factor.

❌ Irish Potato 🥔

❌ Cabbage 🥬

❌ Apple 🍏🍎
Eating apple at night can disturb your sleep and can make you have series of nightmare.

🤔 If you have blood type O and want to loose weight, do not eat bread🍞, Corn🌽, Darwa, Pap, Custard.

EAT:
✅Red meat in good quantity as lack of meat can cause arthritis after 40 in people that have blood type O.
✅Fish
✅Garri

🛑 I am addicted to it, what should I do to control it?

Answers
✅ Alcohol is not bad, as it can provide some health benefits such as preventing you from the risk of having heart disease. It is the quantity consumed that makes it look bad. Too much of everything is bad you know.

✅ Alcohol is not food and shouldn't be consumed like food. One can do without alcohol for days, weeks, months and even years and still be perfectly okay.

✅ As a man, do not take more than 21 units in a week. As a woman, do not take more than 14 units in a week i.e do not take more than 7 bottles of beer in a week for men and 4 bottles for women.

✅ With some level of discipline, you can cut down on your alcohol intake or even stop it. Remember it is a habit you learnt and only you can decide to quit.
📌 Set specific goals.
📌 Make your intentions known.
📌 Do not keep alcohol in your house so that you will not be tempted.
📌 Choose alcohol free days.
📌 Be accountable to someone.

While a little bit of stress is normal and can actually help you function more effectively during times of pressure, ongoing stress is not good for your physical and mental health. From causing headaches and sleep loss to affecting hormonal function, blood pressure and relationships.
Taking a break can help refresh your mind as well as your energy levels.

Tips to tame stress:
✅Engage in physical activity(you can take a work).
✅Laugh more.
✅Connect with others.
✅Get enough sleep.
✅Eat healthy meals.
✅Cut out things that trigger or add to your stress.
✅Avoid unhealthy habits.

A sleep schedule is a daily routine consisting of fixed times for falling asleep at night and waking up in the morning. The recommended amount of sleep for a healthy adult is at least seven hours.

Following a consistent sleep schedule can:
📌Maintain the timing of the body's internal clock or circadian rhythm.
📌 Help you fall asleep and wake up more easily.
📌Lessen the risk of heart diseases and stroke.
📌Better stress level and boost mood.
📌Avoid sleep disorders.
📌Avoid the risk of obesity.
📌Maximize brain functions.
📌 Improve overall health quality.

Tips for creating and maintaining a healthy sleep schedule.
✅ Establish an evening routine.
✅Turn your bedroom into a sleep temple.
✅Do not spend too much time in bed if you don't want to sleep.
✅Cut down on the time you watch television and use phones, laptops and tablets close to bed time.
✅ Exercise during the day.
✅ Avoid consuming caffeine, alcohol or ni****ne close to bed time.
✅Limit naps during the day.

NOTE: Staying in bed when you’re awake can cause your body to associate your bed with wakefulness rather than sleep and also disrupt your sleep schedule.
Also taking much water close to bed time will make you wake up often to urinate at night and can disrupt your sleep schedule.
