Happy International Men’s Day 2025!

Celebrating Men, Inspiring Positive Change
Today, November 19th, the world comes together to celebrate International Men’s Day 2025, a day dedicated to recognizing the positive value men bring to families, communities, and society at large. It is also an opportunity to highlight the challenges men and boys face—many of which are often overlooked.
This year’s focus continues to encourage positive masculinity, mental well-being, and the promotion of men as allies in building safer, healthier, and more inclusive societies.

Why We Celebrate
International Men’s Day provides a platform to:
🔹 Celebrate men who make a difference
🔹 Promote male role models in all walks of life
🔹 Raise awareness on men’s health and well-being
🔹 Support gender equality and respectful relationships
🔹 Address societal issues affecting men and boys

A Call to Support Men’s Mental Health

Across the world, men face silent struggles—stress, depression, societal pressure, and expectations of being “strong” without showing emotion. Today reminds us that:
It’s okay for men to seek help.
It’s okay to speak out.
It’s okay to be vulnerable.
Supporting open conversations about mental health, work–life balance, and emotional wellness helps build healthier families and stronger communities.

Honoring the Men Around Us

Let’s appreciate the fathers, brothers, husbands, mentors, colleagues, and friends who inspire us every day. Whether through leadership, kindness, resilience, or sacrifice, men contribute in countless ways that deserve recognition.

Moving Forward Together
International Men’s Day is not about competing with any other day—it’s about complementing the global effort for health, harmony, and equality. When men thrive, families flourish. When boys are supported, nations grow.

🌍 World Antimicrobial Awareness Week (18–24 November)
Theme: “Act Now: Protect Our Present, Secure Our Future.”

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is rising—and it affects everyone. When medicines like antibiotics and antimalarials stop working, common infections become harder to treat.

This week, let’s take action:
🔹 Use antibiotics ONLY when prescribed
🔹 Never share or misuse medications
🔹 Practice good hygiene and vaccination
🔹 Support responsible use of antimicrobials in humans, animals, and agriculture

Together, we can slow the spread of AMR and protect the power of medicines for future generations.

🌍 World Diabetes Day 2025
💙 Theme: Diabetes and Well-Being in the Modern Workplace

Today, we join the global community in recognizing World Diabetes Day, a moment to reflect on the millions living with diabetes—and to rethink how we support them, especially at work.

Diabetes isn’t just about blood sugar checks or medication; it’s a daily journey that influences energy, focus, and overall well-being. For many professionals, long hours, tight deadlines, and limited healthy food options can make managing diabetes even harder.

This year’s theme reminds us that workplaces can play a powerful role in supporting employees with diabetes. Simple actions can make a big difference:

✔ Flexible breaks for glucose checks or a healthy snack
✔ Access to nutritious food options
✔ Encouraging movement—walk meetings, stretch breaks, standing desks
✔ A stigma-free culture where employees feel safe sharing health needs
✔ Wellness education for all staff

As individuals, we also have a role to play—prioritizing movement, planning healthy meals, and using tools that keep us on track.

As we mark World Diabetes Day 2025, let’s commit to creating healthier, more inclusive workplaces where everyone can thrive. After all, a company’s greatest asset is its people—and their well-being matters.

💙 Together, we can build workplaces that support, empower, and inspire.

WORLD STROKE DAY 2025

What it is

World Stroke Day is observed annually on October 29 and is spearheaded by the World Stroke Organization (WSO). It was established to raise global awareness about stroke—its causes, symptoms, prevention, treatment and the long-term needs of survivors.

Theme & focus in 2025

For 2025, the campaign’s key message centres on “Every Minute Counts” and the urgent need to recognize signs of stroke and act fast. The WSO emphasizes two main calls to action: (1) Know the signs of a stroke and be ready to , and (2) encourage governments and policy‐makers to commit to stronger stroke‐care actions under .

Why it matters

• Stroke remains a leading cause of death and long‐term disability globally.
• Rapid recognition and treatment are critical. The sooner a stroke is treated—ideally within a window of roughly 4.5 hours after symptom onset—the better the chances for recovery.
• Recent trends show stroke affecting younger age groups, driven by changing lifestyle factors, underscoring the need for rising awareness across all ages.
What you can do
• Learn the warning signs: Use the acronym FAST (Face drooping, Arm weakness, Speech difficulty, Time to call emergency services).
• Act quickly if you or someone else shows symptoms—time lost is brain lost.
• Reduce your risk by managing health factors (blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol), staying physically active, avoiding to***co, and limiting excessive alcohol.
• Support awareness and policy: Share credible info, participate in local events, and advocate for better stroke-care systems.

🩵 World Polio Day 2025: Together, We End Polio

World Polio Day is observed globally on October 24 to raise awareness about the urgent need to eradicate poliomyelitis (polio) — a highly infectious viral disease that can cause permanent paralysis, especially in children under five.

The 2025 theme, “Together, We End Polio,” emphasizes global solidarity and sustained immunization efforts to ensure that no child suffers from this preventable disease.

Thanks to decades of worldwide collaboration among the World Health Organization (WHO), Rotary International, and global health partners.

However, the fight is not over — a few countries still report cases of the wild poliovirus, making continued vaccination and surveillance critical.

On this day, healthcare organizations, governments, and communities reaffirm their commitment to immunization campaigns, awareness creation, and community health education.

Every vaccine dose given brings the world closer to a polio-free future.

Let us join hands to protect every child.
End Polio Now — Together, We Can! 💉🌍

World Osteoporosis Day 2025:

Theme: “It’s Unacceptable!”

Each year on October 20, the world observes World Osteoporosis Day to raise awareness about the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of osteoporosis and related bone diseases.

The 2025 theme, “It’s Unacceptable!”, calls for urgent global action against the neglect of bone health and the growing burden of fractures.

Osteoporosis — often called the silent disease — weakens bones, making them fragile and more likely to break. Millions of people worldwide, particularly women and older adults, live with the condition without realizing it until a fracture occurs.

This year’s campaign emphasizes that it is unacceptable for people to suffer avoidable fractures, unacceptable for bone health to be ignored in healthcare policy, and unacceptable for prevention and treatment to remain inaccessible to many.

The message is clear: Bone health is essential to overall well-being. Regular exercise, adequate calcium and vitamin D intake, lifestyle modification, and early screening can prevent osteoporosis and protect quality of life.

As we mark World Osteoporosis Day 2025, individuals, healthcare providers, and governments must unite to make bone health a priority — because when it comes to preventable fractures and disability, “It’s Unacceptable!”

🌍 World Food Day 2025

Theme: “Hand in Hand for Better Foods and a Better Future”

Every October 16, the world unites to mark World Food Day — a reminder that food is more than nourishment; it is a fundamental human right and a shared responsibility.

This year’s theme, “Hand in Hand for Better Foods and a Better Future,” calls for global solidarity and collective action to transform our food systems. It emphasizes the need for collaboration among farmers, producers, consumers, and policymakers to ensure everyone has access to safe, nutritious, and affordable food — while protecting our planet’s natural resources.

As individuals and organizations, we can play our part by promoting sustainable consumption, reducing food waste, supporting local farmers, and making mindful food choices that benefit both people and the planet.

Together, hand in hand, we can build a world free from hunger and malnutrition — where better food truly leads to a better future for all. 🌾🌿

🌍Let’s unite to create a world where everyone has access to healthy, sustainable, and affordable food.

Together, we can grow a better future — one meal, one action at a time. 🍎🤝🌾

World Mental Health Day 2025

World Mental Health Day, observed every October 10, focuses this year on the theme “Access to services mental health in catastrophes and emergencies" and "It Is Time to Priorities Mental Health in the Workplace.”

The theme highlights the urgent need to ensure mental health care remains available during crises such as conflicts, natural disasters, pandemics, and other emergencies.

Crises often heighten emotional distress and disrupt access to care, leaving vulnerable groups—children, displaced persons, and the elderly—without support. Addressing mental health in such contexts is essential for community healing and resilience.

The theme calls for governments, organizations, and communities to:
• Integrate mental health into emergency response plans.
• Strengthen community-based and telehealth support systems.
• Train local health workers and reduce stigma around mental health.
• Invest in long-term psychosocial recovery.

In Nigeria and across Africa, the theme is especially relevant due to recurring humanitarian and environmental challenges.

In Amela Pharmacy, this message is clear: mental health services must be a core part of every crisis response to help people recover, rebuild, and thrive.

29/09/2025

World Heart Day, observed every 29th September, is a global campaign dedicated to raising awareness about cardiovascular diseases (CVD), the world’s leading cause of death.

The 2025 observance emphasizes the importance of adopting heart-healthy lifestyles through balanced nutrition, regular physical activity, stress management, and routine medical checkups.

It also highlights the need for equitable access to cardiovascular care and the role of early detection in saving lives. By encouraging individuals, families, communities, and governments to take proactive steps, World Heart Day serves as a reminder that with awareness, prevention, and timely treatment, most heart-related conditions can be managed or avoided.

Together, we can build healthier hearts and longer lives.

Let’s Promote Heart-Smart Choices
