The Health Policy Research Group (HPRG), University of Nigeria, on Wednesday, 25th March 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Secretary, Bayelsa State Primary Health Care Board.

The visit was aimed at formally introducing the research team and presenting an overview of their ongoing study on the Cost-Effectiveness Analysis (CEA) of the Malaria Vaccine in Bayelsa State. The study is being conducted in collaboration with the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) to generate evidence that will support informed decision-making for malaria prevention and control in Nigeria. The engagement provided an opportunity to strengthen collaboration with the State Primary Health Care Board.

Following the meeting, a step-down training workshop was conducted for research assistants on the Cost-Effectiveness of the Malaria Vaccine in Nigeria. The training enhanced the capacity of participants to effectively identify, collect, and manage data for the ongoing study focused on improving the use of economic evidence in vaccine policy-making across Africa.

The activities reaffirm a shared commitment to strengthening partnerships, building research capacity, and promoting evidence-based decision-making to advance malaria prevention and improve health outcomes.

The Bayelsa State Primary Healthcare Board (BYSPHCB) joins the global community today to raise awareness about the devastating health, social, and economic consequences of TB and to step up efforts to combat the global epidemic.

Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by bacteria (Mycobacterium tuberculosis) that most commonly affects the lungs. It is spread through the air when people who are sick with lung TB cough, sneeze, or spit. While it is a serious condition, it is important to remember that TB is both preventable, treatable, and curable, with the right medical care.

Tuberculosis remains one of the world’s deadliest infectious killers, but we are committed to ensuring that every person in our communities has access to the right information, timely diagnosis, and effective treatment.

Let’s work together to bridge the gap in care and ensure a TB-free future for all.

The Bayelsa State Primary Healthcare Board and it’s partners are committed to ensuring every child is protected.

On March 17th, 2026, our team conducted a comprehensive Measles-Rubella (MR) Vaccine Post-Introduction Spot Check. This vital exercise allows us to monitor vaccine coverage, verify data accuracy, and ensure that no child in our communities is left behind in the fight against these preventable diseases.

Quality healthcare delivery remains our top priority as we continue to strengthen immunization systems across the state.

The Bayelsa State Primary Healthcare Board (BYSPHCB) joins the global community today to observe World Down Syndrome Day.

Down Syndrome (or Trisomy 21) is a chromosomal arrangement where a person is born with an extra copy of chromosome 21. This genetic variation typically results in certain physical traits and unique developmental paths. However, it is important to remember that Down Syndrome is simply one part of a person's identity, it does not define their capabilities, their dreams, or their value to our community.

In alignment with the global call to "End The Stereotypes", we recognize that people with Down Syndrome are essential to our society's bedrock. When we ensure equal access to healthcare, education, and employment, our entire state rises, families are uplifted, and our collective future is strengthened by the power of inclusion.
