The safety rules for physiotherapy have changed drastically with new requirements after the last press conference 23-3-2020:
1. In order to be treated in the practice, you need a special indication FROM your GP or specialist. If you have any questions regarding this, please contact me to discuss your options +31649659335. 2. It is preferable that treatments take place through telephone or FaceTime. This might ask some adjustments on either side, but work wonders! 3. Health questions are gladly answered within 24 hours, feel free to call, text or mail. 4. The practice is required to adhere to stricter regulations, such as gloves and masks. They are expected to arrive here within a week. In this way the practice will be coronaproof and a continuation of care can be guaranteed. 5. Vitamins and supplements can be ordered by telephone, mail and shortly via ernstfysiotherapie.nl, advice is free. 6. For more news, check coming newsletters and my socials. Just to inform everyone-with most of the country being shut down the practice will remain open. The policy of my professional association is that practices stay open as much as possible. There will be extra attention to hygiene and health tips so expect no handshakes but vitamin pills instead-helping you to remain in good health! So: 1. The practice will be open as normal 2. There is even more focus on hygiene than normal 3. Do not hesitate to change your appointment to a later day if you do not feel well-there will be no cancellation fee 4. Feel free to contact with health questions 5. You’ll receive free vitamins for the day during each treatment.

Lifestyle tips for good health in times of Coron
Does all disease start in the gut? No, this virus definitely not. Yet a proper functioning gut does provide you with excellent immune function. To make a long story short-this means basically three things-reducing inflammatory foods, avoiding inflammation in the gut and feeding your good bacteria.
Luckily, these three go hand in hand, what feeds your good bacteria reduces inflammation and stimulates them to produce extra mucus, protecting your gut cells. This basically means that it is best to avoid sugar and starchy foods at all. What you want to eat in stead are the fibres found in vegetables. Cruciferous vegetables are great, as are tuberous plants and leafy greens. So where most of us are used to eating lots of ‘plant fruits’ like tomatoes, eggplants and zucchini and legumes, try to cook outside the box a little more often.
A question I get a lot is about fruit. In general all berries are considered healthy, since they are low in fructose and high in fiber and nutrienst. Think blueberries, raspberries, blackberries and strawberries. Most other fruits are high in fructose and not in season at the moment.
It is hard to give advice on how to spend time in a period that is a forced staycation for some, perhaps a nice break from working at the office for others, but a potential (financial) disaster to others. Solitude can lead to many great things. Cleaning up your house for one, finally digging into that pile of books you were never going to read and starting to write or paint will prove more healthy than is generally thought. Try to limit your screentime and snacking as much as possible. Find time to meditate, stretch and do exercises, it is proven to reduce stress and help keep you sane and healthy. Look for online tutorials and while you are at it, search for an online course as well, Spanish perhaps or mindfullness! Be safe, stay healthy! X E.

The previous post on the coronavirus covered measures to protect yourself using nothing but common sense.
The essence of this post is boosting your immune system with supplements. The basics that you need are vitamin C, D and zinc. Does form matter? With vitamins it always does-when it comes to your C's make sure to not only squeeze the occasional orange, but best take a mix of ascorbates (at least magnesium- and calciumascorbate). Vitamin D is a fatty soluble vitamin, so is best absorbed when taken in the form of oil-drops or oil filled capsules (so best avoid pills and tablets, as they prove much harder to get the D inside your cells). Which brings us to Zinc. Crucial for immune health, and unless you eat oysters and other seafood regularly, best taken daily in the form of Zincmethionine. All are absorbed optimally when taken with meals, but this counts most of all for Zinc, since taking on an empyt stomach can lead to nausea.
The final touch to prepare like a pro means stocking up on omega 3's. Be sure to eat plenty of fatty fish and fish (liver) oil and (or if you do not eat those,) turn to seaweed, chia- and hempseed or vegan EPA and DHA- these fatty acids will help your immune system tremendously!
Curious about quantities? Please contact me for personalized advice, because as you know, size (and age) does matter. Your overall levels of general health and fitness do too by the way.
Stay healthy! X E.

Facial Yoga Workshop: "A complete workshop with immediate results!"
Ernst Fysiotherapie is hosting a dynamic facial yoga workshop on 28 March. You will learn techniques that keep the skin and muscles in your face young. Next are relaxing exercises (botox effect), muscle-strengthening exercises (filler effect), Japanese techniques, pressure points for the face, lymph drainage and exercises for the eyes and jaws. Reversed postures for the entire body from yoga are also discussed, as they are important for the lymphatic system and blood circulation.

The workshop is given by Yvette. She specializes in facial massages (Japanese and Chinese style), body massages (relaxing and hot stone) and has been teaching yoga for 20 years.
