//World Diabetes Day - November 14th
November 14 marks World Diabetes Day, a global initiative to raise awareness about the far-reaching impact of diabetes, including its often-overlooked effects on oral health.
Scientific evidence shows that individuals with diabetes are at significantly higher risk of developing periodontal disease, oral infections, xerostomia (dry mouth), and delayed wound healing. Conversely, poor oral health can negatively affect glycemic control, highlighting a bidirectional relationship between metabolic and oral well-being.
This World Diabetes Day, let’s remember that oral health is an integral part of overall health, and awareness, prevention, and interdisciplinary collaboration are key to reducing diabetes-related complications.
