D/DOCK is a spatial and conceptual design community that creates honest, beautiful and effective spaces with enduring value that deeply inspire.
D/DOCK is an Amsterdam based concept and design studio specialised in interior design, project management and consultancy. Our main drive is the development and realization of spaces, buildings and concepts offering an added value to its users. This added value can be found in smart business solutions, but can also be focused on health, economy or experience. By thinking not only from a design and conceptual perspective, but also from a project management and consultancy point of view, a design process with maximum control is resulting that accommodates our clients. Together with our international team of interior designers, concept designers, architects, technical draftsmen, graphic designers, food designers and stylists, we share the ambition to combine high-end interior design with innovative concept development. We not only strive to contribute to a better world but also positively influence the performance and success of our clients. Our multidisciplinary working method, combined with a highly controlled design process, are the ingredients for top-notch designs with a high-end finishing. At D/DOCK we like to color outside the lines. This attitude evolved into a constant hunger for new opportunities, working on both domestic and international projects. We collaborated with national and international respected clients, operating in countries such as Belgium, Germany, England, Austria, Switzerland, Thailand, Taiwan, China and the island of Aruba. Especially China has embraced our vision, which led to a sustainable partnership and the founding of D/DOCK China in the first quarter of 2015. A team of 32 local and talented designers from Chengdu work together with our studio in Amsterdam on the creation and realization of challenging projects: interior designs with an outspoken D/DOCK signature and a Chinese twist. Big news đ
has been awarded Three Keys đď¸đď¸đď¸ by the , the highest distinction for hotels, becoming the very first hotel in the Netherlands to receive this honour.
As MICHELIN inspectors noted, âA stay at De LâEurope is a journey in itself.â Since opening its doors in 1896, the hotel has preserved its soul while embracing a truly pioneering attitude. Owned by the company since the 1950s, De LâEuropeâs historic character blends beautifully with a warm sense of hospitality.
It was an honour for to have worked on this iconic hotel in close collaboration with the great team of De LâEurope and some of the Netherlandsâ finest creative agencies to design and develop ât Huys. The wing of signature suites brings Amsterdamâs icons of art and style under one roof, celebrating culture and craftsmanship, embodying the spirit that defines De LâEurope and its deep connection with the Dutch capital.
Congratulations to the entire De LâEurope team on this remarkable recognition đĽ

Creative agencies and large corporate clients have made circular design a standard in office spaces. Once a source of disposable interiors, offices have become laboratories for circular design. By leading the way, workspaces can inspire other industries, such as hospitality, demonstrating how circular principles can be applied, scaled, and made desirable while delivering lasting value for people and the planet.
âs Project Manager & Circular Accelerator, Sabrina van Dongen, will join a panel discussion exploring these topics alongside Emmy Scholten (), Leonie Van Damme (.studio), and Saskia Oranje () at the this November.

At the heart of the ground floor of the TWLV is more than a bar. Itâs a vibrant social hub for guests and locals, with panoramic city views.
Anchored by a central bar with an integrated DJ booth, the space unfolds into four distinct yet harmonised zones, each with varied seating typologies and flexible use throughout the day.
The design is inspired by Amsterdamâs outdoors, featuring shimmering waters, city bricks, birds, flowers, and glazed tiles, while infusing the space with cosmopolitan elegance.
Art plays a key role in shaping the barâs atmosphere, adding a bold yet poetic layer to the interior narrative.
Today, in his yearly speech from the throne, Dutch King Willem-Alexander expressed his concern about people becoming increasingly divided and emphasised the importance of reaching out to one another.
Bringing people together is the mission of D/DOCK and we go further than spatial design alone. That is exactly why we launched Buurthotel this year. works together with the hospitality industry to create a better balance between tourism and liveability. By inviting locals into hotels, bridges are built and personal connections are made.
âBurendagâ â Saturday 27 September â is the perfect moment to discover your local buurthotel. Visit for more information.

In reimagining the ground floor of the , we redefined how art and interiors interact to shape thoughtful, resonant design.
As curators, we invited eleven artists â Dutch and international creatives based in the Netherlands â to contribute to a layered narrative that unfolds throughout the hotelâs common areas.
From hand-glazed tiles to sculptural interventions and atmospheric canvases, each work was carefully selected or commissioned to deepen the spatial story, always in dialogue with the city and the architecture, bringing a unique dimension to the guest experience.
The result is a hospitality environment where art becomes part of the spatial language, grounding the hotelâs Brutalist legacy in local warmth, personal memory, and emotional depth.

Last week, our team gathered around the breakfast table with a group of local residents and nine Amsterdam hoteliers, including , ,
, , , .nl, and .
We explored how hotels can develop tailor-made offerings that genuinely resonate with the people who live just around the corner.
Because when hotels open up to their surroundings, something powerful happens: trust grows, local livelihoods are supported, and tourism begins to reflect the true character of the communities it touches. Thatâs a step towards regenerative tourism, one that also creates value for the neighbourhood.
Some important lessons:
âď¸ Hotels are very enthusiastic about opening up their properties to their neighbours.
âď¸ Try to use existing community frameworks as much as possible.
âď¸Repetition is key to optimise impact.
After summer, we will launch our public campaign to engage a broader audience.

transformed the ground floor of the iconic , breathing new life into Europeâs first-ever Marriott property as the hotel celebrates its 50th anniversary.
The redesign introduces a sequence of interconnected spaces, each with its own character yet unified through the Great Room concept. From the warm sophistication of the Lobby, M Club and Library to the vibrant Bar TWLV and Dynamic Lounge, every zone feels like an extension of the guest room: intimate, welcoming, and residential in spirit.
Inspired by Amsterdamâs brutalist architecture, layered landscape, and open character, the design features tactile materials, custom furniture, and several curated works by over ten local artists, all linked, by heritage or by choice, to Dutch culture and its creative scene. The result is a refined hospitality experience that brings global and local communities together, blending a strong sense of place with international flair.

Weâre excited to share that weâll help shape an exciting next chapter for , as they move early next year into their largest office yet â a 3,500 square metre space that weâll design and build to reflect their ambition, identity, and way of working.
Pinely is a tech-driven proprietary trading firm that focuses on building cutting-edge trading infrastructure to compete in dynamic financial markets. Their new home will be in The Pulse, an iconic building designed by and developed by , located in Amsterdamâs dynamic Zuidas business district.
The new office will rise adjacent to the A10 (set to go underground as part of one of Amsterdamâs biggest infrastructure projects), offering sweeping views over both the business district and Buitenveldert.
Designed to support Pinelyâs rapid growth and global ambitions, the workspace will feature a vibrant fifth-floor restaurant with panoramic views, lush terraces and game rooms for relaxation, optimised acoustic comfort, and a calming atmosphere where unsaturated colours in the green and light wood spectrum contrast with black, enriched by natural light and abundant greenery.
Weâre excited to help bring Pinelyâs vision to life and look forward to a great collaboration!

Ever heard of The Great Room?
Designed to bring the family together, The Great Room is a vast multi-purpose space at the centre of a house. Located on the ground floor, it features an open floor plan that encourages connection, allowing people to engage with one another while attending to different tasks.
Marriott recognised the potential of this space and introduced it into their hotels. The Great Room is a concept designed to enhance flexibility in the hotelâs public areas by creating distinct zones within a multi-functional open plan. These adaptable spaces allow guests to meet, work in small groups, or take private moments, accommodating their personal needs, much like they would in their own home.
As the continues to build on its identity, it further enhances its role as a vibrant destination where guests, locals, and city wanderers come together to work, relax, socialise, and celebrate. From the warm elegance of the Lobby and M Club Lounge to the vibrant energy of the Bar and Library, each zone feels like an extension of the guest room, offering a sense of residential comfort and familiarity.
More than just hospitality, the front-of-house areas invite discovery, blending refined service with delightful surprises in an atmosphere that shifts effortlessly from a spirited daytime tone to an elegant, bustling evening vibe.
The playful use of colour, bespoke furniture, and custom art breathes originality into every corner, while a rich palette of materials creates a sleek yet youthful energy. Each detail is thoughtfully designed to feel inviting and inherently sophisticated, cementing the as a true city landmark.

Schola, our internal think tank, thrives on experimenting with new perspectives and ways of thinking.
Â
As Partner and Creative Director at , Francesco Messori leads Schola, testing creative processes across disciplines. Recently, alongside Giulia Cimenti and Elia De Marchi, he brought this mindset to âs Inclusive Design Lab, coordinated by Prof. Alessandro Biamonti. Together, they guided students from fashion, graphic, product, and interior design through an unconventional challenge: designing a tribe within an office.
Â
Rather than focusing on form and function, the students explored rituals, symbols, and identities, crafting imagined societies with their own cultures, tools, and traditions. The result? Spaces that defy expectation. From dystopian habitats to environments fit for gods, this exercise amplified creativity by shifting perspectives, proving that design becomes more powerful when we break free from traditional boundaries and allow diverse disciplines to collide.
Â
Through collaborations with and , we continue to rethink how spaces bring people together, not just today, but for a future yet to be imagined.
