Scientists at Google DeepMind and Yale University have developed a groundbreaking AI model, that generated a novel hypothesis, on how cancer cells hide from the immune system. Essentially, this can help turn "cold" tumors (invisible to the body's defenses) into "hot" tumors, making them visible and vulnerable to existing therapies. The model even identified entirely new drugs that can help boost the immune system's signal against the disease. This discovery has the potential to be one of the most significant breakthroughs in cancer therapy to date.

Researchers at Stellenbosch University have identified a rare group of plant compounds, flavoalkaloids, in Cannabis leaves, often discarded as waste, for the first time. They detected 79 phenolic compounds across three Cannabis strains, including 25 previously unreported in the plant. Sixteen were tentatively classified as flavoalkaloids, primarily found in the leaves of one strain. Phenolic compounds like flavonoids are valued for their antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-carcinogenic properties, and this discovery expands Cannabis’ known chemical complexity beyond cannabinoids.
