Dear network,

The current cohort of Medical Anthropology and Sociology (MAS) is returning from their fieldwork in early June and the students have many questions about life after the masters. The MAS Alumni Association has therefore been requested to join the end of the class for an event to chat with students.

The event will take shape as follows:

After a short introduction per alumn, we will move on to a speed dating session where students have an opportunity to chat with alumni for 5 minutes.

There will be free drinks and snacks, and of course opportunities to network and catch up.

We are searching for 6 alumni who are interested to join in on the fun on June 14th at 3:30PM - 4:30PM. Afterwards, we will have a borrel. We are still fine tuning the location, but it will certainly be at Roetserseilandcampus in Amsterdam.

If you cannot be there in person but would still like to join, we will try to make this a hybrid session.

It does not matter how many years ago you graduated or where you ended up working, we are curious about all your stories!

If you are interested, please send an email to uvamasalumni@gmail.com.

Hope to hear from you soon!

We have a new website!

And a new name, MAS Alumni Association

If you are a MAS alumni please consider joining. As we are part of The University of Amsterdam Alumni Association (AUV) there are great benefits and services you can enjoy.

Our website also has a MAS Thesis database where you can read engaging research of MAS alumni and upload your own thesis to share it with the world!

VACATURE:

Gezocht: onderzoekstagair Psychologie, Gezondheidswetenschappen of Sociale Wetenschappen (Antropologie/Sociologie)

Happy 2020 everyone!

Why not start the year by joining Interbuilding Applied Anthropology meetup tomorrow, 14th of January, with the theme:

"Starting a startup as an anthropologist"

Presenters are Gabrielle Bruggeling & Vera van der Horst from the startup Anthroconsult - https://www.anthroconsult.nl/

They will share their experiences on how to start a startup as an anthropologist.

Main question of the event: How to make companies and institutions see the value of you as an anthropologist. In short: how to make your framing effective?

In preparation for the event think of instances in which you were misunderstood in the job market. Also think of instances in which your value was recognised.

Agenda:
- 6:00-6:10 come in
- 6:10-6:20 welcome game
- 6:20-6:30 check in and expectation sharing
- 6:30 - 7:45* Vera/Gabrielle introduce and talk to the question at hand. throughout the time we will have an open format for the meetup group to ask questions / give opinions
7:45-8:00 - check out and final thoughts for Vera/Gabrielle
