4th Biannual International Multidisciplinary Pain Congress | 1-4 October 2014 | The congress will be held at Van der Valk Hotel, Eindhoven, The Netherlands

Following the success of our third congress in 2012 in Middelburg, we have decided to expand the concept and present a four day multidisciplinary pain congress. The congress will be held at the Van der Valk hotel in Eindhoven and will start with a two day pre-confrence at September 29th and Septbember 30th 2014. The actual congress will start at October 1st and will end at October 4th. The multidisciplinary pain congress includes internationally renowned speakers and state-of-the art lectures in a vibrant location and an energising atmosphere. During the congress faculty will be running special full day and half day programmes/workshops on topic such as low back pain, pain management in the developing world, cancer pain and palliative care and electrical stimulation. During the congress you have the opportunity to present free oral papers and posters. The three best presentations will be awarded a financial gift. The 4th biannual International Multidisciplinary Pain Congress will address those items that you require for managing the pain of your patients more effectively.

At October 3rd Dr. John Loeser lectured two sessions. During the low back pain workshop he talked about interventional therapies, surgery and interdisciplinary rehabilitation. At his evening lecture he talked about the history of pain practice.

Yesterday the scientific committee chose “Efficacy and safety of Qutenza™ in subjects with painful diabetic peripheral neuropathy” as best poster. Author of this poster was Dr. Malcolm Stoker from the United Kingdom. Mrs. T. Maulina from Indonesia had the best oral presentation. The subject was “The relationship between motor activity during experimental muscle pain with psychological variables”. The price, handed by Professor Dr. Frank Huygen, for the best poster and the best oral presentation was a certificate with a value of €1000,-.

During the fourth day of the pain congress a special radiology workshop is organised by Dr. Edwin Oei, consultant radiologist / assistant professor of musculoskeletal imaging at Erasmus Univeristy MC and visiting assistant professor at Stanford University, San Francisco Bay Area. Dr. Oei will discuss the role of imaging in chronic low back pain and spinal disorders, after which Dr. Biswal (USA) gives a talk on imaging pain and nocicepton with functional and molecular imaging techniques. A third presentation during the workshop by Dr. Chabra (USA) discusses the clinical utility of high resolution MR neurography. Join us on this interesting workshop!
