Van 16 tot en met 20 maart 2026 staat Leo Smit, CEO van Hy2Care®, op het podium tijdens LSI USA ’26 in Dana Point, Californië. Tijdens zijn presentatie geeft hij meer inzicht in de unieke CartRevive® hydrogel implant, een innovatieve oplossing die is ontwikkeld om optimaal kraakbeenherstel in de knie te ondersteunen.

Begin 2025 ontving Hy2Care® van de U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) goedkeuring voor een Investigational Device Exemption (IDE). Daarmee kan de eerste klinische studie in de Verenigde Staten van start gaan. Kort daarna haalde Hy2Care® €4,5 miljoen aan financiering op ter voorbereiding op de Amerikaanse klinische studies en de verdere commercialisatie.

Daarnaast ontving Hy2Care® de volledige klinische resultaten van de Europese studie. In deze studie werden 46 patiënten één jaar gevolgd, waarbij na 12 maanden duidelijke en sterke verbeteringen in de KOOS-scores werden gemeten.

From 16–20 March 2026, Leo Smit, CEO Hy2Care®, will take the stage at LSI USA ’26 in Dana Point, California. During his talk, he will share insights into Hy2Care’s unique CartRevive® hydrogel implant, an innovative solution designed to support optimal cartilage repair in the knee.

In early 2025, Hy2Care® received FDA Investigational Device Exemption (IDE) approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, enabling the initiation of its first clinical trial in the United States. Shortly after, Hy2Care® secured €4.5 million in funding to support preparations for U.S. clinical trials and future commercialization.

In addition, Hy2Care® obtained the full clinical results from its European trial. The study included 46 patients with a one-year follow-up, showing excellent improvements in KOOS scores at 12 months.

Vorige week nam Nick Breuer, R&D Scientist bij Hy2Care®, deel aan de tweede editie van de CHILL Meet YOU Session. Deze editie stond in het teken van Sustainable Biotech en bracht bedrijven op locatie en studenten samen om te verkennen hoe biotechnologie kan bijdragen aan een duurzamere toekomst.

Tijdens een informele lunchsessie introduceerde Nick Hy2Care® en vertelde hij meer over onze missie: het ondersteunen van patiënten met innovatieve oplossingen voor kraakbeenherstel. Het was waardevol om met gemotiveerde studenten in gesprek te gaan en van gedachten te wisselen over ondernemerschap, innovatie en samenwerking binnen het MedTech-domein.

Hy2Care maakt deel uit van het OPZuid INTELLECTUALS Project Consortium. Binnen dit project werken wij aan de optimalisatie van ons hydrogelplatform voor toepassing in een joint-on-chip model. Het INTELLECTUALS-project wordt mogelijk gemaakt met financiële steun van de Europese Unie, OPZuid en Stimulus Programmamanagement.

𝗢𝗚-𝗖𝗔𝗥𝗧
Binnen het OG-CART-project werkt Hy2Care aan de ontwikkeling van een sterk hechtende orthopedische lijm, in samenwerking met de Universiteit Twente. Het OG-CART-project wordt mede gefinancierd via een PPP-subsidie van Health~Holland, Topsector Life Sciences & Health, ter stimulering van publiek-private samenwerking.

Last week, Nick Breuer, R&D Scientist at Hy2Care®, participated in the second edition of the CHILL Meet YOU Session. This edition focused on Sustainable Biotech, bringing together on-site companies and students to explore how biotechnology can contribute to a more sustainable future.

During an informal lunch session, Nick introduced Hy2Care® and shared our mission to support patients with innovative solutions for cartilage repair. It was great to engage with motivated students and exchange perspectives on entrepreneurship, innovation and collaboration within the MedTech field.

Hy2Care is part of the OPZuid INTELLECTUALS Project Consortium, in which we aim to optimise our hydrogel platform to be applied in a joint-on-chip model. The INTELLECTUALS project is made possible with financial support from the European Union, OPZuid and Stimulus Programmamanagement.

Within the OG-CART project, Hy2Care is working on the development of a high-adhesive orthopaedic glue in collaboration with the University of Twente. The OG-CART project is co-funded by a PPP Subsidy awarded by Health~Holland, Top Sector Life Sciences & Health, to stimulate public–private partnerships.

De CG Musculoskeletal Conference biedt een mooie gelegenheid om inzicht te krijgen in de actuele ontwikkelingen binnen de orthopedie en om in contact te komen met gelijkgestemde professionals. Aansluitend gaat de AAOS van start, waar orthopedisch specialisten van over de hele wereld samenkomen om kennis te delen en met elkaar in gesprek te gaan.

Met de start van 2026 gaan we vol focus en toewijding verder. Het afgelopen jaar hebben we de klinische basis van Hy2Care’s CartRevive® hydrogelimplantaat verder versterkt. De definitieve resultaten van de Europese studie bevestigen de eerdere First-in-Human-uitkomsten en laten zeer positieve resultaten voor patiënten zien.

In het komende jaar richten we ons op het afronden van belangrijke regelgevende trajecten, het verder voorbereiden van klinische stappen en het voortzetten van onze missie om optimale kraakbeenhersteloplossingen wereldwijd beschikbaar te maken voor patiënten.

𝐖𝐚𝐭 𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐛𝐢𝐣𝐳𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐣𝐚𝐚𝐫 𝐢𝐬 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 𝐯𝐨𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐠𝐞𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐬𝐭!

In het eerste kwartaal van 2025 ontving Hy2Care® goedkeuring voor een FDA IDE van de Amerikaanse Food and Drug Administration. Daarmee kwam de weg vrij voor onze eerste klinische studie in de Verenigde Staten. Kort daarna haalden we €4,5 miljoen aan financiering op om ons voor te bereiden op de Amerikaanse klinische studies en verdere commerciële groei.

Daarnaast ontvingen we de volledige klinische resultaten van onze Europese studie. Deze resultaten stelden ons in staat het verhaal van ons unieke CartRevive® hydrogelimplant wereldwijd te delen op congressen en conferenties.

We zijn enorm dankbaar voor het sterke team achter Hy2Care®, waarin iedereen zich met dezelfde toewijding inzet voor één gezamenlijk doel: optimale kraakbeenherstel mogelijk maken, patiënten helpen hun mobiliteit terug te krijgen en langdurige schade te voorkomen. Ons uiteindelijke doel is om onze kraakbeenoplossing beschikbaar te maken voor patiënten over de hele wereld.

Hoewel er nog uitdagingen zijn, blijven we vooruitgaan, want patiënten wachten op ons.

Nu is het tijd om even pas op de plaats te maken, terug te kijken op wat we hebben bereikt en ons voor te bereiden op het jaar dat voor ons ligt.

In the first quarter of 2025, Hy2Care® received FDA IDE approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, clearing the way to initiate our first clinical trial in the United States. Shortly after, we secured €4.5 million in funding to prepare for U.S. clinical trials and commercial expansion.

In addition, we obtained the full clinical results from our European trial. This helped us sharing the story of our unique CartRevive® hydrogel implant at conferences around the world. We are grateful for the great team we have, all working with the same dedication toward the goal of enabling optimal cartilage repair, helping patients regain mobility, and preventing long-term damage. Our goal is bringing our cartilage solution to patients worldwide.

While challenges remain, we keep on moving, as patients are waiting.
Now, it’s time to relax, reflect, and prepare for the year ahead!

Op dinsdag 25 november namen Ana Luiza de Faria Silvério en Nick Breuer deel aan de CHILL Talent Day. Tijdens dit evenement vertelden zij aan een groep van zo’n 120 studenten, afkomstig uit diverse studierichtingen, het verhaal van Hy2Care® en het CartRevive® hydrogelimplantaat voor optimaal kraakbeenherstel.

Het doel van de dag was om toekomstige talenten kennis te laten maken met Hy2Care® en te laten zien welke ontwikkelingen wij binnen het kraakbeenherstel realiseren met het CartRevive® hydrogel implantaat. Voor de studenten bood dit een waardevolle inkijk in innovatieve technologieën die hen kunnen inspireren bij het bepalen van hun eigen studierichting en toekomstplannen.

Naast de introductie van Hy2Care® maakten de studenten ook kennis met twee lopende subsidieprojecten: OG-CART en INTELLECTUALS. Binnen het OPZuid INTELLECTUALS consortium werkt Hy2Care aan de optimalisatie van het hydrogelplatform, zodat het toepasbaar wordt in een joint-on-chipmodel. Dit project wordt financieel ondersteund door de EU, OPZuid en Stimulus.

On Tuesday 25 November, Ana Luiza de Faria Silvério and Nick Breuer participated in the CHILL Talent Day. During this event, Nick and Ana shared the story of Hy2Care® and our CartRevive® hydrogel implant for optimal cartilage repair with a group of 120 students from different educational backgrounds and fields of study.

The aim was to introduce Hy2Care to future talent and to highlight the developments we are bringing to the field of cartilage repair through the CartRevive hydrogel implant. For the students, gaining deeper insight into these innovations helps them shape their own direction within their studies.

Alongside the introduction of Hy2Care, the students were also introduced to two ongoing subsidy projects: OG-CART and INTELLECTUALS. Op zondag 12 oktober 2025 zijn Leo Smit, CEO van Hy2Care®, en dr. Roel Custers, orthopedisch chirurg bij het UMC Utrecht, aanwezig op het ICRS-congres in Boston.

Om 15:25 uur deelt Leo het verhaal achter het CartRevive® implantaat, gevolgd door een presentatie van dr. Roel Custers over de meest recente klinische resultaten bij 46 patiënten, met een follow-up van maximaal 24 maanden.
