Organ Assist

Organ Assist Organ Assist - Partners in Perfusion Organ Assist is a specialist company, established in Groningen, The Netherlands.

Organ Assist has a complete range of preservation devices for almost every donor organ:

The innovative Extra-Corporal Organ Procurement System (ECOPS) is designed for the In Situ perfusion of the donor body. The Kidney Assist is our transportable organ preservation system for donor kidneys. The oxygenated, hypothermic and pulsatile perfusion provides the opportunity to keep the donor kidney in a better condition in order to improve the results of transplant. The Liver Assist is our dedicated machine for Ex-vivo liver perfusion. This novel device is able to perfuse the artery and vein with different settings and characteristics (pulse/ continuous/ pressure/ temperature). The Lung Assist is our perfusion device for In-Situ as well as Ex-Vivo perfusion of donor lungs. The Lung Assist has the possibility to perfuse donor lungs from hypothermic to normothermic and enables a quality assesment of the donor graft.

In the news today: much more lung transplants thanks to the use of our Lung Assist for treatment of discarded donor lungs. Great work by the lung transplant teams at Erasmus MC (Rotterdam) and UMCG (Groningen) that have been using the perfusion platform as a tool to increase the use of available donor lungs which resulted in a significant increase of the number of actual lung transplants.

Matige donorlongen krijgen tijdens de transplantatie een speciale behandeling. Met antibiotica en stolseloplossers worden ze alsnog geschikt gemaakt voor de ontvanger.

Great study by the group of Prof.R.J.Porte from Groningen! The hypothermic oxygenated perfusion protects and extends storage time of the liver grafts during the preservation phase: "Hepatocellular and biliary function is maintained after ex situ preservation by 24 hours DHOPE." by Isabel Brüggenwirth.
