In the news today: much more lung transplants thanks to the use of our Lung Assist for treatment of discarded donor lungs. Great work by the lung transplant teams at Erasmus MC (Rotterdam) and UMCG (Groningen) that have been using the perfusion platform as a tool to increase the use of available donor lungs which resulted in a significant increase of the number of actual lung transplants.

Matige donorlongen krijgen tijdens de transplantatie een speciale behandeling. Met antibiotica en stolseloplossers worden ze alsnog geschikt gemaakt voor de ontvanger.

The hypothermic oxygenated perfusion protects and extends storage time of the liver grafts during the preservation phase: "Hepatocellular and biliary function is maintained after ex situ preservation by 24 hours DHOPE." by Isabel Brüggenwirth. There is more and more HOPE for livers! Published in the latest edition of Nature magazine:https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-019-45843-3.pdf

Great work by the group of Torino (Italy). Another group showing the benefits of hypothermic and oxygenated perfusion of livers.

And there is more to follow. We are anxiously waiting for the results of the randomized controlled trials on HOPE and dHOPE. Inclusion in these trials will finish soon.
