ISCOMS - International Student Congress Of (bio)Medical Sciences ISCOMS – International Student Congress Of (bio)Medical Sciences The 29th edition was a tremendous success. Yearly, around 1000 abstracts are sent to us.

The organising committee of ISCOMS is proud to announce that the 30th edition of ISCOMS will take place from the 5th of June until the 8th of June 2023 in Groningen, the Netherlands. From those, the best abstracts are selected. Subsequently, students, who wrote these abstracts, get to present their research at ISCOMS. This year we are trying the best we can to make the congress even better, especially for those of you who are interested in acquiring a platform to share your research and gain knowledge. This will incorporate intensive contact with leading researchers in all biomedical fields, which is unique to ISCOMS! We are really looking forward to the upcoming year and we would like to wish all (bio)medical students a warm welcome to ISCOMS 2023.

Breaking Biomedical Boundaries

From the 1st to the 4th of June 2026, the 33rd edition of ISCOMS will take place at the University Medical Center Groningen. The theme for ISCOMS 2026, Breaking Biomedical Boundaries, explores the power of innovation, collaboration, and the drive to push the limits within the biomedical world.

In a time where developments are advancing faster than ever, this theme encourages individuals to push their own limits and explore new frontiers. It highlights the divide between human and machine, while also creating space for collaboration between the two. Where we once believed certain things to be impossible, advancements such as artificial intelligence and algorithms are now playing an increasingly significant role. Additionally, this theme draws attention to the inequality in global access to healthcare and (bio)medical knowledge, as well as disparities between younger and older generations and between men and women.

ISCOMS seeks to encourage collaboration across disciplines, ages, genders, countries, and cultures.

Congress Day 3 ISCOMS 2025

It’s hard to believe, but today marks the last day of ISCOMS 2025. 😢 But don’t worry, we still have an exciting day ahead! We’ll kick things off with the Opening Ceremony, followed by our final Keynote Lecture by Professor Awa Marie Coll-Seck MD PhD, a global health leader and former Senegalese Minister of Health. She’ll share her impactful work on health equity, infectious diseases, and shaping international health policies. 🌍✨

After her lecture, we’ll move into the Plenary Session and the final workshops of the congress. Then, following lunch, get ready for the last oral sessions of the event! 🔬🗣️

The day will wrap up with the Patient Lecture, where we’ll hear about the real-world impact of our research.

To conclude this amazing journey, we’ll celebrate together at the Award & Closing Ceremony. 🏆✨

And don’t forget, the Social Programme will bring us all together for a delicious buffet and the World Wide ISCOMS Night, a night to remember as we celebrate a week full of learning, sharing, and making new friends! 🎉🍽️🌍

Another exciting day at ISCOMS 2025 awaits! 🌟 We’ll begin with the opening ceremony, followed by a keynote from Professor Svetlana Mojsov PhD, an expert in peptide therapeutics. She’ll dive into her groundbreaking work on GLP-1, which has led to revolutionary treatments for diabetes and obesity. 💉✨

Throughout the day, we’ll have Poster and Plenary Sessions, showcasing fresh research and ideas. Make sure to check out the Research & Academic Fair during lunch for some great networking opportunities! 🤝🌱

In the afternoon, get ready for an insightful Operation Lecture, an incredible learning experience for all!

As the day continues, we’ll gather for the final keynote by Professor David Huang MD PhD, co-developer of optical coherence tomography (OCT). He’ll share how this game-changing technology has transformed ophthalmology and patient care. 👁️🔬

To end the day on a high note, we’ll head to Café Hoppe for dinner, followed by the Recreational Evening. Whether you’re joining a boat tour through Groningen’s canals, laser gaming, or bowling, it’s bound to be a night full of fun and new memories! 🚤🎮🎳

Our Story

The ISCOMS organisation is proud to announce that the 27th edition of ISCOMS will take place from the 2nd - 5th of June 2020 in Groningen, the Netherlands. The 26th edition was a tremendous succes, with more than 700 students from 62 different countries visiting us from all around the world. Yearly, around 800 abstracts are send to us. From those, 376 got to present their research in the 26th edition of ISCOMS! This year we are working to make the congress even better for those of you interested in acquiring a platform to share your research and gain knowledge. This will incorporate intensive contact with leading researchers in all biomedical fields, which is unique to ISCOMS! We are really looking forward to the upcoming year and we would like to wish all you biomedical students a warm welcome to ISCOMS 2020.
