The 5 Koshas.!
Layers of being.
In Yoga & Vedānta, the Self is hidden beneath five sheaths (Koshas). Each can be refined through practice, leading us closer to pure consciousness.
1. Annamaya (Food Body) – The physical body.
Practice: Āsana, wholesome food, mindful living.
2. Prāṇamaya (Energy Body) – Life-force, breath.
Practice: Prāṇāyāma, breath awareness, energy balance.
3. Manomaya (Mind Body) – Thoughts & emotions.
Practice: Japa, mantra, mindfulness, steady focus.
4. Vijñānamaya (Wisdom-Body) – Intellect, intuition, inner clarity.
Practice: Study (Svādhyāya), self-inquiry.
5. Ānandamaya (Bliss Body) – Inner joy, glimpsed in deep meditation.
Practice: Dhyāna, samādhi.
Beyond all sheaths shines the Ātman – pure 'Sat–Cit–Ānanda' (Being–Consciousness–Bliss). That is our True-Self.
Cultivate each kosha, transcend-integrate these layers, and discover the radiant 'Self' within.
Wisdom, Sadhana and Upasana is the way.
