In de serie โTime Travel Thursdayโ nemen we je het komende jaar mee in de verhalen van AAE. Verhalen over het verleden, het heden en de toekomst. In deze editie focussen we op het verleden, de oprichting om precies te zijn.
Ons verhaal begon 50 jaar geleden, op 1 april 1976, aan het Binderseind in Helmond. AAE Holland B.V. (Automated Equipment Holland B.V.) werd opgericht door Cees Foekens. Een bescheiden start met twee medewerkers, met focus op onderdelen en tooling.
Al snel bleek dat de ambities groter waren dan de eerste locatie kon bieden. In 1977 verhuisde AAE naar de Middendijk in Helmond. Op deze nieuwe plek kreeg het bedrijf, letterlijk en figuurlijk, de ruimte om verder te groeien en zich te ontwikkelen.
Die groei zette door. In 1990 bestond AAE inmiddels uit 45 medewerkers, en werd duidelijk dat ook deze locatie niet langer voldeed aan de ambities voor de toekomst. De zoektocht naar een nieuwe, toekomstbestendige huisvesting werd ingezet.

In the โTime Travel Thursdayโ series, we will take you along throughout the coming year as we explore the stories of AAE. Stories about the past, the present, and the future. In this edition, we focus on the past, the founding, to be precise.
Our story began 50 years ago, on April 1st, 1976, at Binderseind in Helmond. AAE Holland B.V. (Automated Equipment Holland B.V.) was founded by Cees Foekens. It was a modest start with just two employees, focusing on parts and tooling.
It soon became clear that the ambitions were greater than the first location could accommodate. In 1977, AAE moved to Middendijk in Helmond. At this new location, the company quite literally gained the space to grow and develop further.
That growth continued. By 1990, AAE had expanded to 45 employees, and it became clear that even this location could no longer support the ambitions for the future. The search for a new, future-proof facility began.
