A humbling insight from DASIL South Africa 🌍 Please listen 🙏

As a British Consultant Dermatologist and skin cancer surgeon, Altruist Founder Dr Andrew Birnie was moved by the challenges faced by some of his South African peers who work under some extremely challenging circumstances 🩺 often with limited power supplies - the very basic need to operate a clinic 🌍

This is why it is so important that conferences like bring together the best dermatology experts from across the world, to not only share their knowledge, but their experiences 🙏

Having a constant, reliable electric and energy source is a privilege we do not take for granted.

Neither is access to affordable, basic skin health needs, like sunscreen, to prevent the incidence of skin cancer🥼

Did you know that approx. 90% of UV rays can pass through clouds to damage skin?

⚠️ From March - October (UK) UV can be strong enough to cause skin damage and even burn

🙏 Please don’t rely on clouds to protect your skin - particularly if you are planning an Autumn break in a high UV climate ☀️

☀️🌤️🌥️ Always check your local UV Index, higher than 3, pale or vulnerable skins should be wearing high SPF30+ & high UVA protection 🧴

👀 Check your sunscreen for its UVA rating/ symbol - at Altruist we use the PPD UVA rating which you can find in our packaging

UVA rays are the secret ager, protecting against UVA damage prevents premature aging (ask us if you can’t find it)

Nearly 7000 Altruist Body Lotions with 6% Urea donated to the staff at East Kent University NHS Hospital Trust - because protection starts with healthy skin 🩺🙏 Thank you for the kind post ⬇️

Altruist was founded by Trust consultant dermatologist Dr Andrew Birnie, who gave 6,747 bottles to East Kent Hospitals Charity.

The charity team distributed them to wards and departments across the Trust last week, and would like to say a big thank you to Andrew (Dr Andrew Birnie, Altruist Founder and a Consultant Dermatologist), as well as all the teams who helped with the distribution.

This includes 2gether stores, the transport team, the team at Hinxhill, Suzanne Norman and Paul Shadbolt.
