NATIONALE PLASDAG / donderdag 17 september 2020

Op donderdag 17 september is het Nationale Plasdag. Nationale Plasdag is een initiatief van de Continentie Stichting Nederland (CSN), waarin zij samenwerken met de MLDS. Met deze dag willen de stichtingen het onderwerp plasklachten bespreekbaar maken. In Nederland hebben ongeveer 1 miljoen mensen last van een overactieve blaas en een half miljoen mensen zijn incontinent zijn voor urine. De beschikbaarheid van een wc is voor hen het verschil tussen wel of niet de deur uit gaan. Daarom zetten de Maag Lever Darm Stichting en de Continentiestichting Nederland in juni, juli en augustus 2020 een enquête uit onder alle 355 Nederlandse gemeenten over de toegankelijkheid van toiletten binnen de gemeente. Een derde hiervan (111 gemeenten) reageerde. Op Nationale Plasdag worden de cijfers uit het onderzoek bekend gemaakt.

Incontinentie is het verlies van de controle over de blaas. Bij kinderen onder de 3 jaar is het normaal om geen volledige blaascontrole te hebben. Naarmate kinderen ouder worden, zijn ze beter in staat hun blaas onder controle te houden. Wanneer het een kind dat oud genoeg is om zijn of haar blaas onder controle te houden en dat toch niet lukt wordt dat enuresis genoemd.
Enuresis kan overdag of 's nachts optreden en frustrerend zijn voor een kind en zijn/haar gezin. Maar het is belangrijk om geduld te hebben en te onthouden dat niemand er schuld aan heeft. Een kind heeft geen controle over enuresis. En er zijn manieren om enuresis te behandelen en uw kind te helpen.

The SENS-U KIDS is a device the size of a card holder that is worn on the lower abdomen of children from 6 to12 years old who do not feel when their bladder is full. The sensor measures the filling of the bladder. When the bladder is almost full, the device gives a signal by vibration on the abdomen or via our app on the mobile phone, for example for parents, so that the child can go to the toilet.

In children's continence training there are two main choices: to have the child repeatedly use the toilet at fixed times several times a day or put a moisture sensor in their diaper. Neither of these approaches will teach the child to cope without an aid.

De schoolgaande kinderen met incontinentie problemen zijn nóg niet goed uitgerust: de kleine draagbare blaassensor SENS-U KIDS geeft een signaal bij een volle blaas aan het kind zodat de toiletgang gemaakt kan worden, vóór het te laat is.
