IRONMAN NUTRION STRATEGY

Recently more research shows us that carbohydrate intakes up to 120g carbs per hour can contribute to better performance!

In this light we must see that for some triathletes 120g per hour intake will work, but not everyone can handle the higher amounts of carbohydrate within the stomach and intestines.

NutrID Developed the following intake possibilities with carbohydrate per hour :

- Kerosine ratio 2:1 = 90g carbs per hour
- Kerosine ratio 3:2 = 100g carbs per hour
- Kerosine ratio 1:1 = 120g carbs per hour

- KerosineRS+ ratio 2:1 = 90g carbs per hour
- KerosineRS+ ratio 3:1 = 80g carbs per hour
- KerosineRS+ ratio 6:1 = 70g carbs per hour
- KerosineRS+ ratio 1:0 = 60g carbs per hour

The difference between Kerosine and KerosineRS+ is the amount of cluster dextrin and fructose mixed. The Kerosine van give you more carbs per hour, but the KerosineRS+ is more stomach and intestines friendly for during the run.

We recommend to take more carbs during the bike part. As in the beginning of the day intestines absorption is much more effective then later on the day.

TRIATHLETE A (handles well higher amounts of carbs)

BIKE : Kerosine Ratio 3:2 (100g per hour)
RUN : KerosineRS+ 2:1 (90g per hour)

TRIATHLETE B

Bike : Kerosine Ratio 1:1 (120g per hour)
Run : Kerosine ratio 2:1 (90g per hour)

TRIATHLETE C

BIKE : Kerosine Ratio 2:1 (90g per hour)
RUN KerosineRS+ 1:0 (60g Per hour)

Most important for race nutrition is that you train it! At least the last three weeks up to the race event. If you experience everything is going well you can test with higher amount.If you have some problems you scale down. In this way you will find the best possible carbohydrate intake per hour for your individual IRONMAN (IRONMAN 70.3) race.

HALF TRIATHLON NUTRITION STRATEGY

Doing a half triathlon:

1️⃣ Maintaining glycogen levels is key
2️⃣ During the race, the digestibility of the gastrointestinal system decreases
3️⃣ use maximum digestibility of the gastrointestinal tract as long as this is possible!

So:
✅ 1900m SWIMMING: 100ml NutrID Kerosene 5min before start swimming + rinse with water.
✅ 90km CYCLING: during cycling One 750ml bottle with 270g NutrID Kerosene RATIO 2: 1 + 3mg caffeine p / kg body weight. Rinse 100ml of kerosene every 30min with water from the second bottle. Furthermore NOTHING! ⛔️NO GELS! ⛔️NO BARS!
✅21km RUNNING: During running one 250ml flex bottle with 250ml Kerosene RATIO 2: 1 + 3mg caffeine p / kg body weight. At 5, 10 and 15km 1/3 of the flexibon + rinse with water from the care station. Furthermore, NOTHING‼ ️ ⛔️NO GELS! ⛔️NO BARS!
