What is Qigong?
Qigong (Chi Kung / Dao Yin) is a more than 5000 year old Chinese movement theory with the aim to restore balance to body and mind.
Qi stands for “life energy” and Gong means “art or skill”. So you can translate it “as controlling and working with life energy”
What is meant by life energy?
Life energy is energy that ensures that a person, animal or plant can live. In India people speak of “Prana”. In Japan “Chi” and in China Qi or Ki. Qi flows through our body over energy channels (meridians) that are connected to our organs.
Everyone is born with a supply of life energy but this decreases over the years due to external factors such as stress, illness, busy job, pollution, etc.
In short, everything that gives you the feeling that it “costs you energy.”
If we do not supplement this energy, we will burn out. There are different ways to regain energy such as walking in nature. Cooking a delicious meal. Reading a book. Massage. Social contacts. Traveling. Everyone has their own way to recharge themselves. The best effect is combining this with Qigong.
When I am in nature and combine Qigong with this, I feel more relaxed and happier. Certainly of flowers! That’s why you see flowers on my website www.joychi.nl. It makes me happy and it gives me energy.
