🚀 EmpowerHer - innovation in legal services to empower women in rural areas:
The Launch of the Microjustice Digital Legal Aid Platform in Upper Egypt
We are very happy to announce a major milestone in our mission to close the justice gap! This past Saturday 14 February in Asyut, Microjustice and its partner the Eparchial Development Office in Assiut (EDO) officially launched our Digital Legal Aid Platform and the legal rights protection barometer report Upper Egypt. This Project receives the financial support of the Slovenian and Dutch Embassies in Cairo.
This initiative is a core part of the Legal Awareness raising and legal aid for Women Working in Agriculture in Rural Areas in Upper Egypt. By leveraging digital transformation, we provide rural women transparent information on their day-to-day justice needs.
With transparent information, direct access to legal consultations and a specialized lawyers' network, the Platform ensures that justice is never out of reach.
A Collaborative Vision for Justice
The launch event started the blessing of His Grace Bishop Daniel Lotfy (Coptic Catholic Diocese of Assiut), who emphasized the vital importance of protecting and sustaining these digital tools to ensure long-term impact for women in Egypt.
We were honored by the participation of:
• Father Matteos Shenouda (General Director of EDO), who highlighted their deep spiritual and social commitment to women’s empowerment.
• Mr. Hany Fawzy (Executive Director), who outlined our shared goal of building a sustainable, comprehensive legal support network.
• Amira Eshak (Project Manager), who presented the inspiring progress of this journey so far.
Our Director Patricia van Nispen tot Sevenaer, representing the Microjustice team, explained the day-to-day legal needs, from birth (birth certificate, for which you need marriage certificate of parents, to death (certificate), and all legal needs in between those major events during life time, to marry, divorce, related to the children, inheritance, work-related needs (employment, setting up a business, rent /land agricultural land), housing (property, rent). Women groups’ in Asyut had expressed their gratitude to have transparent information in all these fields how to arrange their legal needs in terms of costs, requirements, documents needed, steps, duration, and how to get a lawyer, including his costs and his/her service. These women said that this transparency has already changed their life.
Patricia expressed our immense gratitude for the cooperation with EDO, the most professional and effective organization Microjustice has worked with in the past 30 years of work on legal empowerment. As she noted during the ceremony, this is more than just an app; it is a "qualitative leap" in empowering women in rural areas.
Innovation in Action
One of the event's highlights was an immersive presentation led by artist Mina Fawzy and AI specialist George Anwar. Through a creative blend of live performance and artificial intelligence visuals, they brought the platform’s vision to life, demonstrating how technology can be a powerful ally in the fight for legal protection.
We also gained valuable insights from:
• Senator Magdy Selim, on the importance of legislation for women in the workplace.
• Ahmed El-Badrawy (Dean of the South Assiut Bar Association), open to cooperation in the Microjustice legal aid Platform, taking it step to step.
What’s Next?
While this is the first platform of its kind in the Assiut Governorate, it is only the beginning. At Microjustice-EDO, we are already looking toward the future, with plans to expand this digital protection to other governorates across Egypt in the near future.

🚀 تمكين المرأة - ابتكار في الخدمات القانونية لتمكين المرأة في المناطق الريفية:
إطلاق منصة مايكروجستس للمساعدة القانونية الرقمية في صعيد مصر
يسرّنا الإعلان عن إنجاز هام في مهمتنا لسدّ فجوة العدالة! يوم السبت الماضي، الموافق 14 فبراير، في أسيوط، أطلقت مايكروجستس وشريكها، مكتب التنمية الأبرشي في أسيوط، رسميًا منصة المساعدة القانونية الرقمية وتقرير مؤشر حماية الحقوق القانونية في صعيد مصر. يحظى هذا المشروع بدعم مالي من سفارتي سلوفينيا وهولندا في القاهرة.
تُعدّ هذه المبادرة جزءًا أساسيًا من جهود التوعية القانونية وتقديم المساعدة القانونية للنساء العاملات في الزراعة بالمناطق الريفية في صعيد مصر. من خلال الاستفادة من التحوّل الرقمي، نوفر للنساء الريفيات معلومات شفافة حول احتياجاتهنّ اليومية في مجال العدالة.
بفضل المعلومات الشفافة، والوصول المباشر إلى الاستشارات القانونية، وشبكة من المحامين المتخصصين، تضمن المنصة أن تكون العدالة في متناول الجميع.
رؤية تعاونية للعدالة
بدأ حفل الإطلاق بمباركة نيافة الأنبا دانيال لطفي (أسقف أبرشية أسيوط القبطية الكاثوليكية)، الذي أكد على الأهمية البالغة لحماية هذه الأدوات الرقمية ودعمها لضمان أثرها الإيجابي طويل الأمد على المرأة في مصر.
تشرفنا بمشاركة كل من:
• الأب ماتيوس شنودة (المدير العام لمنظمة EDO)، الذي سلط الضوء على التزامهم الروحي والاجتماعي العميق بتمكين المرأة.
• السيد هاني فوزي (المدير التنفيذي)، الذي أوضح هدفنا المشترك المتمثل في بناء شبكة دعم قانوني شاملة ومستدامة.
• أميرة إسحاق (مديرة المشروع)، التي قدمت عرضًا ملهمًا عن التقدم المحرز في هذه المسيرة حتى الآن.
شرحت مديرتنا باتريشيا فان نيسبن توت سيفينير، ممثلةً فريق مايكروجستس، الاحتياجات القانونية اليومية، بدءًا من الميلاد (شهادة الميلاد، والتي تتطلب شهادة زواج الوالدين)، وصولًا إلى الوفاة (شهادة الوفاة)، وجميع الاحتياجات القانونية بين هاتين المرحلتين المهمتين في حياة المرأة، كالزواج والطلاق، وقضايا الأطفال، والميراث، والاحتياجات المتعلقة بالعمل (التوظيف، وتأسيس مشروع تجاري، واستئجار الأراضي الزراعية)، والسكن (العقارات، والإيجار). وقد أعربت مجموعات نسائية في أسيوط عن امتنانها لتوفير معلومات شفافة في جميع هذه المجالات حول كيفية تلبية احتياجاتهن القانونية من حيث التكاليف والمتطلبات والوثائق اللازمة والخطوات والمدة، وكيفية الحصول على محامٍ، بما في ذلك أتعابه ورسومه. وأكدت هؤلاء النساء أن هذه الشفافية قد غيرت حياتهن بالفعل.
كما أعربت باتريشيا عن امتناننا العميق للتعاون مع منظمة EDO، وهي المنظمة الأكثر احترافية وفعالية التي عملت معها مايكروجستس على مدار الثلاثين عامًا الماضية في مجال التمكين القانوني. وكما أشارت خلال الحفل، فإن هذا ليس مجرد تطبيق، بل هو "قفزة نوعية" في تمكين المرأة. في المناطق الريفية.
الابتكار في الممارسة
كان من أبرز فعاليات الحدث عرضٌ تفاعليٌّ قدمته الفنانة مينا فوزي والمتخصص في الذكاء الاصطناعي جورج أنور. من خلال مزيجٍ إبداعيٍّ من الأداء الحيّ والعروض المرئية بتقنية الذكاء الاصطناعي، جسّدا رؤية المنصة، مُظهرين كيف يمكن للتكنولوجيا أن تكون حليفًا قويًّا في النضال من أجل الحماية القانونية.
كما استفدنا من رؤى قيّمة من:
• السيناتور مجدي سليم، حول أهمية التشريعات الخاصة بالمرأة في مكان العمل.
• أحمد البدراوي (عميد نقابة محامي جنوب أسيوط)، الذي أبدى انفتاحه على التعاون في منصة المساعدة القانونية "العدالة المصغّرة"، والعمل على تطويرها خطوةً بخطوة.
ما الخطوة التالية؟
على الرغم من أن هذه المنصة هي الأولى من نوعها في محافظة أسيوط، إلا أنها مجرد بداية. في "العدالة المصغّرة - إيدو"، نتطلع بالفعل إلى المستقبل، ولدينا خطط لتوسيع نطاق هذه الحماية الرقمية لتشمل محافظات أخرى في مصر في المستقبل القريب.
