Marija is a mom of two, a program manager, and someone deeply committed to supporting international talent in The Hague.

Living and working in the international city of peace and justice, Marija believes that while there is no shortage of ambition among students and young professionals, real opportunities in the peace and justice sector can be difficult to access—especially for international students facing high competition and limited entry points into the job market.

For the third year in a row, together with The Hague International Centre, she has co-created the Talent for Good Fair. A space where students and young professionals can explore career paths, meet professionals, build skills, and connect with others who want to make an impact.

Marija believes that students, graduates, and young professionals need more support to find placements and meaningful opportunities. There is incredible talent in The Hague—and with the right support, it can truly thrive.

On 15 November, Sinterklaas arrived by boat from Spain bringing three weeks of festive atmosphere, pepernoten, songs, and chocoladeletters! Sinterklaas rides his magical white horse 'ozosnel' across roofs at night placing small gifts ‘schoencadeautjes’ and sweets in well-behaved children’s shoes. On 5 December, the celebrations end with Pakjesavond (gifts evening), when kids wait for a knock on the door and discover a burlap sack full of gifts. Families then gather to unwrap presents, read funny poems, and enjoy a traditional ‘gourmet dinner’ together. Read our ‘Sinterklaas for beginners’ article to learn all about this Dutch tradition!
