Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from Eosta.
Here are some photos from our Christmas lunch, and a family photo we took for our new website that is now live.

Many thanks to DÉ PLANK for the catering. We also appreciated the Christmas boxes from No Waste Army, a conscious choice aligned with our commitment to reducing food waste and promoting sustainability.

A valuable moment to pause together as the year comes to a close.

🕊️ Human Rights Day — our everyday essentials
Today we reaffirm a simple truth: human rights are not abstract principles — they shape daily life. In global food supply chains, they determine whether people are safe, heard and treated with dignity.

This year’s theme, led by the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, highlights that human rights are:
• Positive — supporting safety, opportunity and well-being
• Essential — our shared foundation in uncertain times
• Attainable — strengthened through everyday choices and collective action

At Eosta, human rights have been a core part of our mission since 1990. Through long-term grower partnerships, transparency and responsible sourcing, we work towards a food system that is not only organic and sustainable, but also fair for the people behind it.

This week was International No Pesticide Use, and we celebrated organic agriculture with great news from the vineyard 🍇

Last week, the first organic Early Sweet grapes from our long-standing partner Carpe Diem were harvested in the Orange River Valley, South Africa. Arrival is expected before Christmas, with excellent berry size and high brix for great taste.

Carpe Diem, led by grower Gog van der Colff, has been fully organic since 2006. Their strong focus on soil health, high-quality compost, and vermicompost creates living, resilient soils — showing what farming without synthetic pesticides truly looks like.

Meet Pro-Plum Organics: the only commercial organic stone fruit grower in South Africa. This family farm in the pristine Waterberg Highlands grows plums, peaches, apricots and nectarcots using clean mountain water, living soils and zero chemical pesticides.

The Roos family farms fully organically. Compost, natural teas and healthy soil life keep the orchards resilient, while beneficial insects maintain natural balance. All fruit is packed on the farm for full traceability from tree to box.

Pro-Plum is part of Eosta’s network of growers who protect soil, water and biodiversity while producing flavourful fruit.

It is Climate Week in the Netherlands. We believe every small step counts: supporting organic growers, reducing CO₂, saving water, protecting soil — all of which are part of our business model. Even when sourcing from abroad, we ensure the most sustainable option possible.

For instance, this week we received the first containers of organic Ataulfo mangos (or Honey Mangos) by boat!

It’s a unique achievement: Eosta is the only company bringing these tree-ripened Ataulfo mangoes to Europe by boat — keeping them fresh and full of flavour while reducing emissions.

• Top quality fruit with rich flavour and strong presentation
• Lower CO₂ footprint thanks to more sustainable logistics 🌱

👉 Let’s use Klimaatweek to shine a light on sustainable fresh-fruit & vegetable supply chains, fair trade, transparency and the power of consumers & businesses acting together.

We’re expanding our organic cranberry program – bringing festive fruit without the environmental cost 🌿

At Eosta, we’re proud to announce the expansion of our innovative organic cranberry program — proving that sustainable farming can offer real solutions to today’s environmental challenges.

In the Krimpenerwaard region, our partner The Cranberry Company grows organic cranberries on 18 hectares of peat soil — an inspiring example of farming with nature. By keeping the soil naturally moist, peat oxidation is prevented, biodiversity is protected, and CO₂ emissions are reduced. It’s a climate-positive alternative to traditional dairy farming in vulnerable peatland areas.

✨ Why these cranberries stand out
✅ 100% organically grown in the Netherlands
✅ Dry-harvested for extra firmness, flavour & long shelf life
✅ Rich in antioxidants and vitamins
✅ Grown in a way that supports soil health and prevents peat subsidence
✅ Part of our mission to bring festive fruit without the environmental cost

💬 As our grower says: “Cranberries are perfect for the festive season – fresh, colourful and healthy. They show that sustainability and innovation can go hand in hand.”

📺 Even NOS, the Dutch national broadcaster, highlighted this project as an example of future-proof farming:
👉 “Cows are getting wet feet more often – can the cranberry offer a solution?”

• Squeeze over fish, roasted veggies or salads for a bright touch.
• Mix zest and juice into soft butter with sea salt for easy lemon butter.
• Freeze slices in water for quick lemon ice cubes.
• Or make preserved lemons for that Mediterranean twist!

🧼 Around the house:
• Mix lemon juice with vinegar and water for a natural cleaner.
• Scrub cutting boards or steel with half a lemon + salt.
• Simmer peels with cinnamon for a natural air freshener.

🥑 Avova: Organic Raingrown Avocados from the heart of Mexico!

The first containers of our Organic Raingrown Avocados from Avova, a family business in Michoacán, have already arrived! Generations of craftsmanship meet modern ecological practices to bring you premium avocados straight from Mexico.

💧 Water saved: In the first 8 months of this year, 560 million litres of water have been saved thanks to Raingrown avocados – that’s enough drinking water for over 10,000 Europeans!

🌿 Sustainable & community-focused:
• Safe working conditions, fair wages, training, and support for local communities.
• Organic, rain-grown orchards with composting, ground cover, and reforestation. Eagles, foxes, and deer roam freely – a sign of thriving biodiversity!

🌄 Why they’re special: Grown at high altitudes (up to 2,900 m) in Michoacán, the harvest season is long and flexible, letting the fruit ripen naturally for ultimate taste and quality.

These super flavourful, Organic Raingrown Avocados are available until the end of January – perfectly grown on natural rainfall, without using precious drinking water.

🥑 Did you know? Mexico is the birthplace of the avocado, enjoyed for thousands of years!
