One of our growers in Kenya shows how Fairtrade works in practice.
The Murang’a South Growers Group, part of the Mavuno organic avocado network, received a Fairtrade Premium. The farmers themselves decided how to invest it. Their choice: goats.

Each village receives a goat owned by the cooperative. The communities benefit from milk, additional income opportunities, and stronger resilience for farming households. A simple, locally meaningful investment chosen by the farmers themselves.

Food waste often starts with looks. At Eosta, we choose differently.

These parsnips tell the story: one tiny baby at 35 g, one proud papa at 1.2 kg, and a pair that clearly love each other. Same quality. Same taste. Same nutritional value.

🍎 93% of tested apples in Europe contain pesticide residues
🍏 85% contain multiple pesticides
🍎 64% contain PFAS — so-called “forever chemicals”

A new study by PAN Europe shows that apples often contain cocktails of pesticides. These substances are tested individually — but not in combination. The long-term effects of these mixtures are still uncertain. What we do know: many are linked to cancer, infertility and hormone disruption.

At the same time, the European Commission is proposing to weaken pesticide reassessments and extend approvals.

Back to the apple.

This week, we were back at the Award Ceremony — this time as a jury member.
Last year, we received the True Price Award for our organic avocado, recognised as the Dutch consumer product that most convincingly helps close the gap between market price and true price.

Yesterday’s award ceremony at the True Price Festival showcased an inspiring and competitive final. Congratulations to Fairphone, winner of the True Price Award 2026.

Top 3 finalists:
• Fairphone – a smartphone designed with sustainability and fairness at its core
• VEJA – sustainability embedded down to the smallest detail
• Johnny Cashew (B Corp) – cashews processed in the country of origin, reducing unnecessary food miles

Almost half of you guessed it right.
The answer: 1.6 billion litres of water 💧

That equals the daily household water use of around 10–13 million Europeans.
