Self-care... Acupressure Points for Stress and Anxiety
HOW to apply?
Activate the spot by massaging it with your thumb for a minute or two at times of stress or before going to sleep, while breathing deeply. Or press it firmly with the middle finger supported by an index and ring finger, using one or sometimes even both hands.
Here 3 points, among many others:
☯️ Governing Vessel 20/ GV 20
(百会) – “HUNDRED MEETINGS”
This is the area where the yang energy is most active. It regulates the movement of all yang energy in the body.
Pressing on this point helps raise the yang, uplifting depression and sadness. Also it can ground energy to ease overthinking and anxiety, clearing the mind to help you feel focused and present. It nourishes the brain helping to treat insomnia, clenched jaw, headaches, dizziness and other neurological conditions.
☯️ Conception Vessel 17 /CV 17 /REN 17 (膻中) “CHEST CENTER”
This is an essential point for the heart, it helps move the qi or energy in our body.
It helps relax and open up the chest and breathe better, releasing the diaphragm.
It helps to soothe chest tension, emotional imbalance, nervousness, anxiety, anguish, depression and hysteria. It also helps to treat asthma, cough, and breast issues like insufficient lactation, mastitis and sore throat. It is also known as the Sea of Tranquility.
☯️ Heart 7/ H7 (神門) – Shen Men “SPIRIT GATE”
It deeply connects with the heart meridian to nourish the spirit, treating all emotional imbalances, and strengthening heart qi and blood. It is on our inner wrist crease next to the big tendon under the little-finger.
It is good for calming the heart and settling emotional distress like anxiety, insomnia, fear, as well as physical responses to anxiety such as heart palpitations and chest pain or emotional shock. You can also use it to strengthen the Fire element- joy and connection.
Repeat, on the right hand too.
🌿 Stay healthy!
