January 1st called… but yoga says it’s not the real New Year 😏🌱

According to the Vedic calendar, spring holds the celebration, but the real magic starts quietly, long before flowers bloom 🍂

Curious? Read our latest reflection (or find it on our highlights) and discover the seasonal secrets your body already knows.

Saucha, but make it festive ✨🧹
One of the Niyamas in yoga, Saucha is all about cleanliness, of the body, the mind… and yes, the mountain of yoga laundry too.

During the Christmas holiday, we’re giving the shala some extra love: cleaning, clearing, and releasing old dust, old energy, and maybe a few forgotten socks 👀 so we can start the new year fresh and spacious.

Huge shout-out to Patricia, Sham, and Sandra, our unofficial laundry yogis, for washing everything. Mats, aerial silks, blankets, bolsters… probably twice. True karma yoga in action 🙏😂

Because a clean shala = clearer minds, calmer nervous systems, and happier savasanas.
So grateful for this community and all the behind-the-scenes magic.

Happy holidays & clean vibes only 🎄✨

Big news from the Mahé mat ✨

Everyone turned their chair around at our latest yoga teacher audition and that can only mean one thing… Donatas is officially joining the Mahé family! 🎉

A Rotterdam-based yoga teacher, Donatas brings calm, breath-led Hatha and Yin classes with a deep focus on relaxation, grounding, and moving with awareness. With years of meditation practice and sound work using Tibetan singing bowls and gongs, his gentle teaching style creates a safe, spacious atmosphere where you’re invited to slow down and truly reconnect.

Starting January 2026, Donatas will guide us every Thursday with:
🧘🏽‍♂️ Hatha & Pranayama at 19.00 - 20.30
🔔 Yin & Sound at 20.45 - 21.45

He believes yoga is less about perfect shapes and more about coming home to yourself, one breath at a time, and we couldn’t imagine a better addition to our weekly rhythm.

Thursdays at Mahé just became a place to land 💫

🌙 Winter Solstice | The Return of the Light ✨

Across the world, the Winter Solstice has long been honoured as a sacred turning point, the shortest day, the longest night, and the quiet promise that light will return.

In ancient Europe, this moment was celebrated as Yule, when fires were lit to welcome the sun back and to protect life through the dark winter months. In Persia, Yalda Night marked a vigil of storytelling, poetry, and togetherness until dawn, symbolising hope and renewal. Indigenous cultures aligned ceremonies with the earth’s rhythms, honouring rest, ancestry, and rebirth.

Within the Hindu tradition, the solstice aligns closely with the sacred transition toward Uttarayana, the sun’s northward journey. This shift is considered highly auspicious, symbolising spiritual awakening, clarity, and movement from darkness toward light. It is a time associated with tapas (inner discipline), devotion, and conscious living.

Across cultures, the message is shared and timeless:
🌑 pause
🔥 rest
✨ remember your inner light

The Winter Solstice invites us to soften, reflect, and trust the natural cycle, knowing that even in the deepest darkness, light is already on its way.

Come and join us tonight for Winter Solstice workshop: Honoring the Light, with Seema.

Namaste Mahé Kula 🙏🏾

As tradition lovingly insists, Mahé will be closed for studio maintenance from 24 December to 1 January. This is our annual ritual of turning the entire shala inside out. Think of it as aparigraha in action: cleansing, laundering, wiping, swiping, painting, rearranging, and letting go of what no longer serves. Props get bathed, corners get attention, and the studio exhales so we can step into the new year with a clean slate, clear energy, and fresh beginnings.

To welcome 2026, Yaela will open the year with a very special 2-hour offering: Embodied Detox Flow & Floating Nidra on Friday, 2 January. A practice designed to help you digest life, choices, and yes… the inevitable mountain of oliebollen that lovingly closes the year. Adding herbal magic to the mix, Andrea, our soulful herbalist, will be serving a specially crafted detox tea. Consider this event saucha for body, mind, and soul. One not to be missed if you’re around. Psst, there won’t be a class on Saturday, 3 January 2026.

Before we temporarily roll up the mats, we invite you to come practice as much as you can before the studio closes for the week. Stock up on movement, breath, and presence. Your future self will thank you.

PS: If Mahé withdrawal symptoms arise during the closing period, feel free to pop by. I’ll likely be there cleaning anyway, covered in dust and devotion. And if you suddenly realise you urgently need mindful gifts from Mahé’s tiny shop, just text me. Who knows, the door might open and the universe might provide.

With love, laughter, and a freshly cleaned shala,
Pritha Mahé 🧹🪷

As the New Moon hides her light, we step into the womb of creation 🌑
In Hindu wisdom, this is the realm of Shakti, where endings dissolve and new intentions are born.

We begin by turning inward.
✨ Intention setting to feel what you’re ready to call in
🌬 Gentle breathwork to quiet the mind
📓 Journaling to release the old and give shape to your Sankalpa
🛌 Yoga Nidra to anchor your intention in deep rest

From stillness, sound carries you further. Bowls, gong, and subtle vibrations move through you like the blessing of the Goddess, clearing and restoring.

A pause. A reset. A sacred new beginning ✨

That final Shanti at the end of class isn’t random.

We chant it after the body has moved, the breath has softened, and the mind has settled.

It’s a closing. A grounding. A way to carry the practice with you.

Zenang Yoga & More

This is a short story of how we came to be. Pritha, a yoga teacher originated fromBali-Indonesia, moved to Zoetermeer in the beginning of 2018. Together with Dani (a free spirited entrepreneur from Den Haag whom she met in Bali many years ago), they sat down to brew some magic & held a well attended Zondag Yoga in Het Park in the summer of 2018. Shortly after their success, Pritha & Dani opened their own yoga school in Zoetermeer. In August 2018, Zenang Yoga & More was fully open for the community. Until today, Zenang Yoga & More has become a place to learn deeper about oneself through yoga, fully guided by experienced yoga teachers.

--- Zenang itself derived from the word; Senang (Indonesian for happy) and Zen (peaceful & relax). You can have it all, happiness and peace all at once. Since happiness is only real when shared, that's why we are here to share all the magic of yoga. Zenang Yoga & More is a sanctuary where you can feel like home, at peace, safe, relax, nurtured and happy. We offer daily yoga practice for all levels from beginner to advanced practitioners, regular workshops related to yoga and wellness, and community events for everyone.
