Happy International Women day 💚🥳 I want to use this day to honor and celebrate the most important woman in my life, my mom 💚 She has been a rock of safety, inspiration, lightness, strength, support, positivity and so much more my whole life. When other parents might try to talk sense into their daughter when she is making what might seem as crazy choices, walking in the opposite direction of the idea of what success is in the western, capitalist world, she has done nothing but giving me never-ending support and cheering me on. Saying she is the best mom ever is definitely an understatement! Today is all about celebrating the incredible women who move the world. Let’s honor womanhood by telling the women in our lives exactly how awesome they are ❤️😀 But let’s also remember, today is a call to action, to continue to work for equal rights for every woman, everywhere 🌍 We must acknowledge that for many women, freedom and equal rights are not historical facts, but revolutionary concepts yet to be translated into the reality of their daily lives. "I'm not free while any woman is unfree, even when her shackles are very different from my own." — Audre Lorde

Some throwback pictures of mom and me💚

"There are no strangers here; only friends you haven't met yet" - W.B. Yeats. This truly is reflected in the season at Hagabrekka. How amazing it is that within a week you can feel this deep connection to someone you just met. How fast the group of total strangers seem to become a group of old friends is so beautiful to observe. I think the fact that no one is allowed to use their phones has a big saying in this 😄 When we stop being glued to a screen and start being here, interacting with the world around us, magic happens! Human connections seem to have been disappearing increasingly with the growing screentime. We are so excited to welcome many new friends to Hagabrekka this summer, and many old ones as well 💚 If you want to join a retreat or course, have a look at our webpage, there is still spots left: www.wanderlustyoga.no

Welcome to yoga and nature retreats in our off grid home and learning centre for regenerative living in the Norwegian wilderness 🙏😃 Our retreats and courses takes you back to nature, back to simplicity with an off-grid lifestyle (no electricity or running water at Hagabrekka), it invites you to explore the mesmerizing untouched nature around us, slow down and enjoy the moment. You can expect a diversity of hikes, nature and views that takes your breath away, icy rivers and lakes, disconnecting from all your devices, healthy wholesome meals, new friendships, connections and laughter around the bonfire. Regenerative lifestyle and permaculture are at heart of the development of Hagabrekka Wanderland. We want to offer you a grounding experience where you not only reconnect to nature but where you reconnect to yourself. This is for you who want to explore and immerse yourself into nature: www.wanderlustyoga.no

We all know that energy is something that can never end, it can only transform. What are you transforming your energy into? What are the feelings you are cultivating? Stress, anger, exhaustion, frustration or happiness, mindfulness, compassion, love, awareness, bliss? Maybe a bit of each? But are you aware of it? Are you aware that this is something that you can decide, it is not something out of your control. But with too much that should be done in a day how is it possible to take the time to look inside? When there is time, we direct our energy to the screen that can distract our mind from actually checking in on how we are doing.

It is time for a change in the world, where we start taking responsibility for our own happiness, directing our energy on balance within, that is how we can start cultivating awareness on all the choices we make in our daily life. With inner awareness and balance, the care for others and for nature will naturally come 💚💚💚 Todays reminder: take time for yourself!! 💚💚💚

It’s only been a bit more than three months now since we left Hagabrekka, but I am already really starting to miss home. From being addicted to traveling, exploring and constantly moving, I now feel soooo much excitement about growing our vegetables, developing our land, our food forest, projects and ideas on creations on anything like building a sauna to improve our irrigation system. My mind is exploding with ideas, and my hands are searching for soil to touch, feeling the earth and our perennials returning with spring. But I know the land is resting now, and the mountains of Nepal is also calling for us 💚I cant wait to pack my bag and feel the energy of the Himalayas again soon, but at the same time I do feel a little bit of longing to Hagabrekka (one of our volunteers sent us these pictures now from this summer that she got developed, so that off course took me back to our land 😄💚☝️).

What is it about waterfalls? Why are they so captivating? It is like there is some special energy around the falling of water, it is magic 😄 We keep on discovering more waterfalls around Hagabrekka, and it is such a privilege to have all this abundance of water.

Water is such an essential part of life, something we should not take for granted! When we first managed to pump water from a stream on our property through a filter an into a tank it was a crazy revolution for us. It made life so much easier than having to pick up water in smaller tanks and carry, carry and carry some more. We got a little spoiled with what seemed to be a never-ending fresh water supply. Summer came with the absence of rain for months and our stream dried out! No more possibility for our rainwater harvest, and no water in proximity gave us a reminder of the value of this essential resource that we should always be mindful about and cherish. We watched the slow death of many of our vegetables as we had to prioritize water for our guests.

An important reminder for us to be more mindful about our water use, not to mention, cherish rain. I know right, the rain sometimes bums us out, especially when living outside and having to work in the rain, but next time you feel annoyed with the weather, remind yourself about how essential water is, the source of life. Did you know?

- Nearly 97 percent of the world’s water is salty or undrinkable. Another 2 percent is locked in ice caps/glaciers. That leaves 1 percent for all of humanity’s needs!!
- Water regulates the Earth’s temperature. It also regulates the temperature of the human body, carries nutrients and oxygen to cells, cushions joints, protects organs and tissues, and removes waste.
- A living tree is about 75 percent water.
- A person can live about long without food, but only about a week without water.
- The average total home water use for each person in US is about 380 l a day. During medieval times, a person used only 38 l per day.

Next time it is raining I challenge you to go outside, feel the touch of the raindrops, do a little rain dance, give your gratitude to every drop that is falling 😀

‘Saying you are not flexible enough for yoga, is like saying you are too dirty to take a bath.’ I truly believe that yoga is for everyone, maybe it is not a passion for everyone, but it can certainly benefit everyone to do a little bit of yoga. Yoga can take so many forms and be adapted to where you are in your body. It can be exercise, maybe a way to relief stress, understand yourself, breathe, deal with health challenges, widening your perception, handling anxiety and fear, build strength and mobility etc. The beauty of yoga is that it can be anything you need, take what can benefit you, what can increase your happiness and balance.

Originally yoga was a whole life philosophy, an understanding of reality, but I think even taking a small part of yoga into your daily life can increase the quality of your existence. I know for sure that it has changed both my health, physical and mental health completely, and provided me with so many tools on how to navigate both my inner and outer world. If you are interested in yoga, you are welcome to join us at Hagabrekka Wanderland, we offer both retreats and courses, and free spots for low-income travelers. Write to us if you have any questions, or have a look at our webpage for more information: https://wanderlustyoga.no/collections/yoga-retreats

What is permaculture? In simple terms, permaculture is a design system. It is using the wisdom of nature to help us design anything, showing us a path. In a way it is a toolbox for how to create a regenerative lifestyle. Tapping into mother nature’s logic, in many ways we are just copying the logic of the natural ecosystems around us. It doesn’t have to be your garden; it can be transferred to all aspects of your life. Looking to nature for the answers, it encourages us to observe, think and make plans to be able to live in harmony with nature, not living of it. Nature is the main teacher that is always showing us the way in how we can do something. Permaculture is a lifestyle and same as yoga, it provides us with a framework or a toolbox on how we can create solutions, how we can regenerate human life and nature alike. More than telling us how to do something, it is really teaching us to ask the right questions and start from there.

Are you interested in knowing more about yoga, permaculture and regenerative living? Welcome to Hagabrekka Wanderland, all courses and retreats for 2026 is open for booking 😀🌲🙏💚

A new year is starting and I want to share some exciting news! Let me present to you our first deep dive course where we are connecting yoga, permaculture and regenerative living in our off-grid space in the Norwegian wilderness 😀🙏

Yoga and sustainability have always been somewhat interconnected for me. When I started my masters in sustainable development, it was in many ways a result of my increasing interest in yoga as an integrated part of my life. It seemed like the more yoga I practiced, the more need I had to find out a way to live more in sync with nature. I think the fundamental practice of yoga really is to get to know yourself. By getting to know yourself you realize that you are not something separate from nature, but deeply connected to the world around you. By observing and understanding the natural logic of nature, you can implement that to find more balance and abundance for yourself, which essentially is what permaculture is all about. All I want for Christmas is freedom of life with my husband, equal respect of everyone, unrelated to their passport. For the ones that know us, you are aware of the never-ending struggle we had because of borders. Every year we apply again for seasonal work visa for Sabin to be in Norway, despite us being married (more than 9 years together/6,5 years of marriage). With the laws regarding a minimum income of the Norwegian (me) as a demand for Sabin to come on a spouse visa, it was never an option, I have never in my life made that amount 😂 and we definitely don’t need that amount to live the life we want (except for being allowed to be together in our home). So, every year we get stuck 4 - 5 months in Nepal, as Sabin must send away his passport for the application, not to mention all the paperwork/cost. We love to spend time in Nepal, but as it is mostly during low season there is not much work for us, and it is 4 - 5 months in agonizing fear every year, as we never know the answer. The main thing is the frustration of not being able to create and share what we want on our land (which Sabin owns 50% of). We are so grateful for everything we have, the possibilities, so many privileges that we sometimes take for granted. But it always makes me feel so ashamed of being Norwegian. I feel ashamed that my passport is a gate opener, while Sabins is a root of condescending treatment. In every airport he is in constant fear, so many times he has been stopped and denied entry, or been questioned, or held for no reason. Just airport transfers is such a hassle, and we off course only travel to places where he has the visa. The treatment and the way he is talked to makes me furious, I want to scream and cry at the same time. But what to do? Fight? I have tried, of course it only makes things worse. I always feel we should meet everyone with compassion, without judgement, but that is for sure not how things are everywhere. But, I truly believe that change all starts with you and me. So, let us all make the intention for the new year to meet people with more compassion and less judgement. Let us make this place filled with more love and light the year to come 💚
