Rauhnattene are the twelve sacred nights around midwinter ⭐️ (Starting tomorrow's night 24th December - till 5th January) celebrated in different forms across Germanic and Nordic traditions.
In German-speaking areas, they’re called Rauhnächte, while in Nordic culture, midwinter has long been seen as a ‘between-time’ - a pause between the old and new year. ✨
Traditions include Jul as the midwinter turning point, julefred as a moment of calm and protection, and mythological images like Åsgårdsreia (the Wild Hunt), ancestral presence, or land spirits, reflecting themes of transition, reflection, and renewal. ☺️
This magical period invites us to pause,
reflect, and reconnect with ourselves.
Each night symbolizes a month of the year ahead,
encouraging us to release what’s past, set intentions, and recharge.
If you are considering to do the Rauhnattene and don’t know where to start,
then this is a warm guide from us to you. 🙏🏻
You don’t need to follow strict rules simply listen to your intuition, whether that’s lighting candles, doing the 13 wishes ritual, noting dreams, smudging, or practicing grounding and mindful yoga. 🧘🏻
It is a great way to remember that this period of Rauhnattene is a gentle reminder to slow down, reconnect with nature and yourself,
and welcome the new year with clarity, calm, and intention 🌙✨
