Woulgan Woulgan Bioactive Beta-Glucan Gel reactivates slow wound healing - a product of Biotec BetaGlucans in Tromsø, Norway.

Most Innovative Product Award 3rd place - JWC Awards 2019 Woulgan® is an advanced wound healing dressing containing an ancillary medicinal substance: soluble beta-glucan (SBG). The product has typical hydrogel properties and provides optimal moist wound healing environment, re-hydrates necrotic tissue and aids in autolytic debridement. The novelty of the product is the component SBG which is a proprietary substance made by Biotec BetaGlucan. Woulgan also has a slightly acidic pH around 6 which further facilitates wound healing and inhibits excessive protease activity in the wound which may degrade newly generated tissue, a well-recognized problem in chronic wounds. Intended use:
The product is intended to be used under supervision of health care professionals and primarily in hospitals or care units. Woulgan is intended for single patient, single use as a primary dressing for dry or low exuding partial and full thickness dermal wounds such as:

Diabetic ulcers
Pressure ulcers
Leg ulcers
Graft and donor sites
Post-operative surgical wounds
1st and 2nd degree burns
Abrasions and lacerations

Woulgan is initially intended to be applied to a prepared wound bed every third day until complete wound healing or for a maximum of 12 weeks unless improvements are seen at this stage. Woulgan is easy to apply: remove seal, un-screw cap, apply to wound and cover with a suitable secondary dressing. Precautions:
Do not use in patients with known sensitivity or allergies to Woulgan or any of its ingredients. Infected wounds should be treated after consultation with health care professional and treatment with Woulgan may be continued in combination with additional treatment.
