All these medications, over the period of one month, to a 1 year old child for Common Cold with recurring mild cough. On top of oral medications, 4 different antibiotics, multiple cough syrups, someone (Not a doctor) from nearby medical shop prescribed Meropenem and Amikacin and had the audacity to tell the parents to continue the rest of medicines from nearby hospital on outpatient basis. For investigations, CBC and widal test done, And finally the diagnosis was typhoid fever.
NOW, THIS IS SERIOUS.
I believe, patients can be ignorant, parents can be ignorant but not someone who prescribes these medicines consiously.

मुग्री माछा नेपालमा प्रतिबन्ध ! यस्तो कारण रहिछ ।

विश्वमा पाइने माछामध्ये मुग्री माछा (Catfish) हाल निकै विवादित माछाको रुपमा परिचित भएको छ। वैज्ञानिक अनुसन्धानका आधारमा यो माछामा अत्यधिक मात्रामा पारो (Mercury) पाइने पुष्टि भएपछि यसले मानव स्वास्थ्यमा गम्भीर असर पार्ने देखिएको छ।
पारो एक किसिमको विषालु धातु हो, जुन शरीरमा जम्मा हुँदै जाँदा क्यान्सर, मस्तिष्कको समस्या, स्नायु प्रणालीको हानि, र अन्य दीर्घकालीन रोगहरू निम्त्याउन सक्छ। थोरै मात्रामा पारो अन्य धेरै माछाहरूमा पनि पाइन्छ, तर त्यो मात्रा सह्य हुन्छ। तर मुग्री माछामा भने पारोको असाधारण मात्रा पाइएको छ जसले गर्दा यसलाई खान अयोग्य भनेर घोषणा गरिएको हो।
यही कारणले गर्दा यो माछा अहिले थाईल्याण्ड, म्यानमार, बंगलादेश, भारत लगायतका मुलुकहरूले औपचारिक रुपमा प्रतिबन्ध लगाएका छन्। नेपालमा पनि यो माछा प्रतिबन्धित सूचीमा राखिएको छ, तर अझै पनि भारतबाट लुकाइछिपाइ ल्याइने क्रम रोकिएको छैन, जुन गम्भीर सरोकारको विषय हो।

पारोको असरको गम्भीरता बुझ्न हामी थर्मोमिटरकै उदाहरण लिन सक्छौं। पहिले ज्वरो नाप्ने थर्मोमिटरहरूमा पारो प्रयोग गरिन्थ्यो। तर त्यसबाट हुने असर बुझिएपछि अहिलेका धेरै अस्पतालहरूमा यस्ता थर्मोमिटर प्रयोगमा छैनन्। अझ कतिपय अस्पतालहरूमा त ‘पारोमुक्त अस्पताल’ भन्ने बोर्ड समेत राखिएको देखिन्छ।
यस कारण आम नागरिकलाई सचेत गराउँदै मुग्री माछाको सेवनबाट टाढा रहन आग्रह गरिन्छ। सस्तो, सजिलो, वा स्वादिलो भएको भन्दै स्वास्थ्यमा खतरा हुने खाद्यवस्तु प्रयोग गर्नु दीर्घकालीनरुपमा हानिकारक बन्न सक्छ।
