The "Superficial Quad Technique" for Medial Patellofemoral Ligament (MPFL) reconstruction uses a strip from the superficial part of the patient's own quadriceps tendon as a graft, offering an anatomic match to the native ligament without requiring bone tunnels or hardware in the patella, which reduces patellar complications like hardware irritation. This technique involves dissecting a strip from the quadriceps tendon, leaving it attached distally, and routing it medially to the femur to restore the ligament's function, providing good outcomes for patellar instability.
