नयाँ वर्ष २०२६ को पावन अवसरमा हाम्रो क्यान्सर अस्पताल परिवारका तर्फबाट

The cervical cancer screening camps we conducted in a few wards of Janakprudham SMC reminded us how crucial it is to raise awareness and educate families about cancer health. Prevention truly begins at home.
During his visit in December 2025, Dr. Binay Shah met with high school students across several schools, inspiring them to become allies in women’s health, respect, and the pursuit of a dignified life for all.
It was deeply moving to see both girls and boys raising their hands together - standing united for health, respect, and dignity. Their energy and commitment show us that change begins with young voices and shared values.
High-school students can act as powerful change-makers: educating their parents and families on the importance of early cancer screening and detection, volunteering at the camps, and helping bridge understanding of what a positive result means and the next steps forward.

नयाँ अध्ययन : नेपालमा क्यान्सर उपचारमा गम्भीर ढिलाइ, लक्षण देखिएको ४ महिनापछि मात्रै उपचार सुरु

विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन (डब्लुएचओ) अन्तर्गतको अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय क्यान्सर अनुसन्धान संस्थान (आईएआरसी)का वैज्ञानिक डा. दीपेन्द्र सिंह नेतृत्वको टोलीले गरेको नयाँ अध्ययनले नेपालमा क्यान्सरको निदान र उपचार प्रक्रियामा व्यापक ढिलाइ हुने गरेको खुलासा गरेको छ। बीएमजे ग्लोबल हेल्थमा नोभेम्बर १० मा प्रकाशित अध्ययनका अनुसार, बिरामीले लक्षण देखिनेदेखि उपचार सुरु हुनसम्म औसत चार महिनाभन्दा बढी पर्खिनुपर्छ।

अध्ययन बिपी कोईराला मेमोरियल क्यान्सर अस्पतालमा २०२२ मा उपचार गराएका १ हजार १८२ प्रौढ क्यान्सर बिरामीमा आधारित थियो। अनुसन्धानले क्यान्सर उपचार यात्रा (लक्षण देखिएको समयदेखि स्वास्थ्यकर्मीलाई भेट्नु, निदान, र उपचार सुरु हुन) हरेक चरणमा उल्लेखनीय ढिलाइ भेट्टाएको छ।

मुख्य निष्कर्षहरूमा :
• लक्षण देखिनु–पहिलो स्वास्थ्य सम्पर्क: ३१ दिन
• पहिलो सम्पर्क–निदान: ४८ दिन
• निदान–उपचार सुरु: १९ दिन
• लक्षण देखिनु–उपचार सुरु: ११० दिन (करिब ४ महिना)

ढिलाइका गम्भीर नतिजा

Binaytara Hospital Project Update from our Country Director, Hari Tiwari

On November 21, we completed the final review meeting for the Binaytara Cancer Hospital project’s Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) at the Ministry of Forests and Environment.

Our team will now submit the final EIA report to the Ministry. After submission, the approval process will move through the desk officer, Deputy Secretary, Joint Secretary, Secretary, and finally to the Minister for signature.

Once the process is complete, we will receive the official EIA approval letter — a major milestone for the Binaytara Cancer Hospital project.

Seated along the left side of the table were: health expert Ramchandra Khanal and the Ministry’s Under-Secretary. Across the table sat environmentalist and presenter D. Jyoti Gajurel, Krishna Chandra Nyaopane, Hari Tiwari, social expert Prakash Ghimire, and the civil engineer, with Under-Secretary Ambar Bahadur (social expert) participating in the review. The session was led by Joint-Secretary Binod Gyawali.

विश्व पाठेघरको मुखको क्यान्सर उन्मुलन दिवस

सरकारले नेपालमा पहिलो पटक विश्व पाठेघरको मुखको क्यान्सर उन्मुलन दिवस मनाउँदैछ। ‘आजैदेखि लागौँः पाठेघरको मुखको क्यान्सर निवारण गरौँ’ भन्ने नाराका साथ स्वास्थ्य तथा जनसंख्या मन्त्रालयले यो दिवस मनाउन लागेको हो।

विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन डब्लुएचओको ७८ औँ महासभाबाट पहिलो पटक नोभेम्भर १७ लाई विश्व पाठेघरको मुखको क्यान्सरको निवारण दिवसको रुपमा मनाउने निर्णय गरेको थियो। सन् २०२२ मा यहि दिनमा डब्लुएचओले पाठेघरको मुखको क्यान्सरलाई सार्वजनिक स्वास्थ्य समस्याको रूपमा अन्त्य गर्ने विश्वव्यापी रणनीति सुरु गरेको थियो।

सन् २०२२ मा मात्र पाठेघरको मुखको क्यान्सरका कारण करिब ३.५ लाख महिलाहरूले ज्यान गुमाए। नेपालमा पनि महिलाहरूमा हुने क्यान्सरमध्ये पाठेघरको मुखको क्यान्सर प्रमुख क्यान्सर हो। ग्लोबल क्यान्सर अब्जरभेटरी को सन् २०२२ को प्रतिवेदन अनुसार नेपालमा वार्षिक २ हजार १६९ जना महिलाहरूमा पाठेघरको मुखको क्यान्सर पत्ता लाग्ने गरेको र १ हजार ३१३ जना महिलाको मृत्यु हुने गरेको तथ्यांक छ।

यी तथ्यांकका आधारमा नेपालमा पाठेघरको मुखको क्यान्सरका नयाँ बिरामी पत्ता लाग्ने दर १४ दशमलव २ प्रति लाख र मृत्युदर ८ दशमलव ७ प्रति लाख रहेको मन्त्रालयले जनाएको छ।

पाठेघरको मुखको क्यान्सर उन्मूलन गर्न सबै देशहरूले प्रति १ लाख महिलामा ४ भन्दा कम नयाँ घटना राख्नुपर्नेछ। विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठनले पाठेघरको मुखको क्यान्सर रोकथाम गर्न तीन रणनीति सिफारिस गरेको छ। उक्त रणनीतीको कार्यान्वयनले पाठेघरको मुखको क्यान्सरबाट हुने मृत्यु सन् २०३० सम्म ३० प्रतिशतले घट्ने अनुमान गरिएको छ।

क्यान्सर निवारणको लागि सन् २०३० सम्ममा सरकारले कम्तीमा ९० प्रतिशत किशोरीहरुलाई पाठेघरको मुखको क्यान्सर विरुद्धको एचपीभी खोप लगाउने लक्ष्य छ। यस्तै, ३० वर्ष माथिका ९० प्रतिशत महिलाहरुको स्क्रिनिङ गर्ने र पाठेघरको मुखको क्यान्सरको निदान भएका कम्तीमा ९० प्रतिशत महिलाहरुको उपचार गर्ने रणनैतिक लक्ष्य राखेको छ।

महिलाहरुमा हुने क्यान्सरहरुमध्ये पाठेघरको मुखको क्यान्सर दोस्रो मुख्य कारण हो। र, क्यान्सरबाट महिलाको मृत्यु हुने पहिलो मुख्य कारण रहेको मन्त्रालयले जनाएको छ।
