In recent months, Nepal has witnessed heartbreaking headlines: the su***de of a bright medical student in
Kathmandu, strikes across hospitals over unbearable workloads and unpaid salaries, and growing burnout
among young healthcare workers who are losing their passion before they even begin their careers, an
exodus of registered doctors seeking better futures abroad, the rising use of substances among medical
students—often as a coping mechanism for relentless stress, academic pressure, and emotional isolation.
These are not isolated incidents—they reflect a broken system that urgently needs reform, compassion,
and courageous voices. Through this article-writing initiative, we are not just collecting words—we are
building a knowledge pool rooted in lived experience, academic reflection, and bold vision. We urge you
to write, not just for publication, but to shape policy, awaken awareness, and offer real-world solutions.
Whether you’ve felt overwhelmed, witnessed injustice, or dreamed of a more humane system, your story,
your analysis, your insight could be the spark that inspires meaningful change.
As part of our Mental Wellbeing Initiative, we (Nepal Health Corps – Karnali Academy of Health Sciences in collaboration with
Society of Teaching Learning and Research Centre, Jumla) are inviting students, faculty members, and
mental health professionals to contribute opinion-based perspectives, reviews, and scholarly articles. This initiative aims to create a supportive dialogue around mental health and foster a culture of openness, empathy, and scientific inquiry.
