Maha Nawami is the day dedicated to the worship of the goddess Durga in her powerful forms, especially as Durga the Protector, who symbolizes the triumph of good over evil.
In Nepal, Nawami Puja is also a day for worshiping tools, vehicles, and instruments—anything that plays a vital role in your livelihood.
Here, the Founder of Lotus, Master Arvind is paying respect to the mother bowl that started his sound healing journey along with other instruments.
Why People Worship Instruments?
1. Belief: Tools and instruments are seen as sacred because they support one's dharma (duty) and artha (livelihood).
2. Gratitude: The puja is a way to express thankfulness for the tools that provide food, shelter, and work.
3. Purification: Items are cleaned, oiled, decorated with flowers and tika, and then worshiped to ensure they function well and stay free from harm.
This includes:
Farmers – plows, sickles, etc.
Drivers/Mechanics – vehicles, tools
Musicians – instruments
Writers/Students – pens, books, laptops
If you would like to follow this ritual:
1. Clean and arrange your work tools (e.g., laptop, bowls, vehicles, etc.).
2. Light a small diya or incense.
3. Offer flowers or tika.
4. Say a short prayer thanking the universe or divine energy for supporting your life.
