Karuna Foundation Nepal

Karuna Foundation Nepal 🔹Saving Children from Disability, One by One Besides, Karuna wants to improve the quality of life of children with a disability and their families.

Karuna Foundation is a young and dynamic entrepreneurial development organization, founded in 2007, with an office in Arnhem and in her project area, Nepal. Karuna Foundation strives to decrease the number of birth defects and disabilities among children in developing countries, by improving existing health systems and empowering poor communities and vulnerable groups within these communities, such as children with a disability, mothers and newborns, to develop their capacity to claim their right to healthcare. Each child born healthy and each child that grows up healthy is one. They are our source of inspiration and motivation. We aim to achieve our objectives through
- empowerment of the population by introducing a cooperative community-based health care system (Share&Care), including referral to specialized care.
- prevention of disabilities through awareness, training, behaviour change and improved health services.
- Treatment and care for children with a disability and their families within local context and possiblities.

🔹This World Down Syndrome Day, we share Trisha’s story, a six-year-old girl born with Down syndrome, whose early days were marked by frequent falls and limited mobility due to a patellar dislocation. Walking was uncertain, and with every fall, her confidence quietly faded. With timely support through the Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Program (DPRP), Trisha was referred for corrective surgery at HRDC, Banepa. That moment became a turning point.

Today, Trisha walks with confidence. She attends school in Kamal, learns, plays, and embraces her childhood with joy and growing independence while living with her grandparents. Her journey is a gentle reminder that when children are given the right care and opportunities, they don’t just overcome challenges, they flourish.

Because every child deserves not just support, but the chance to thrive.

Assistive devices were distributed to persons with disabilities in Chasmitar and Dikuwa, Halesi Tuwachung Municipality, Khotang, in the presence of the Ward Chairperson.

A small support, yet a meaningful step, these devices are not just tools, but a pathway toward dignity, independence, and inclusion. Each distribution carries a story of resilience, hope, and the collective effort to ensure that no one is left behind.
