Project No One (1)
School building - 16 rooms
estimated time: 1 year to complete.
Estimated cost: US$ One hundred thousand ($100.000.)
Funds in part from Ministry of Education, local contributions and we hope from friends.

Project No. Two (2)
Health Post.
Sick or injured people have to be carried on the backs of family members to Phaplu District Hospital, and serious cases transferred to Kathmandu. By then it is usually too late to help.
Waku Health Post has limited facilities and staff.
The post needs an upgrade to include extra rooms for birthing, a solar panal source of electricity, as well as stock of medicine.
Budget: aim is to create an independent fund and purchase/expand as funds are available.

Project No. Three (3)
House building Project:
First 30 houses for the most needy, then 250 houses.
Waku Foundation provides tools and limited materials and the house owners build their own houses, following new established 'earthquake resistant' principles.
Budget: US$ 5000.00 to purchase and freight tools and materials.

Project No four (4)
Water supply
There is no centrally placed safe/reliable water supply - so the locals use a great deal of time to fetch - time that could be used to house building, farming etc. Aim is to dig ditches, place pipes and bring water to one or more central points for easy access. Village people will work free on this project. Budget: US$1500.00 for purchase/transport of piping, links taps and cement.

Project No Five (5)
Hydro power
Small power station to provide electricity to the aid post, as well as one light bulb to each house - with eventual small electric cookers to reduce use/dependency on wood for cooking.
Budget: We are looking at the costs here and looking for a main sponsor to assist.

Project No Six (6)
Commercial market
Tea-house or domestic tourism - building of low cost bamboo huts connected to a family who is able to cater for eco-tourists. Here we envisage some tourists who wish to volunteer in the building up of the village. Of income generated a 10 % goes to the family and a10 % to Waku Foundation Nepal.
Budget: USD$ 3000.00 this will be a local initiative, and financed locally.

Project No Seven (7)
Tree planting
To replace the trees cut for building temporary shelter after the earthquake. To help stabilize the land, eventually provide building material, firewood, fruit for health/re-sale - as well as animal fodder.
Budget: Seedlings have to be bought, transported, planted and cared for - the need is great and we will allocate 8% of all income/donations for the other projects to this as an 'on going project' that will not give immediate returns but is key for the future of the village.

Project No Eight (8)
Bamboo project
To police/control the present bamboo groves, be they private or joint owned, so they are not depleted. Bamboo is a re-new able source of building material, as well as bedding for animals.
