Your microbiome might be your best defense against cancer.

These microbes act as miniature chemical factories, fermenting dietary fiber into short-chain fatty acids like butyrate. This byproduct serves as a potent epigenetic regulator that triggers apoptosis, or programmed cell death, in cancerous cells while suppressing chronic inflammation. By enhancing anti-tumor immunity, a healthy microbiome creates a biological environment that is hostile to the development of malignant growths.
