KarmaTreks and Adventures with Purpose - Nepal

KarmaTreks and Adventures with Purpose - Nepal KarmaTreks is a Nepal-based organization. We offer adventures with purpose. KarmaFlights is a Nepal-based, non-profit organization.

We believe strongly in each child’s immutable right, to a safe and secure learning environment. In a land famous for its towering peaks and tumultuous rivers, the bright young minds of Nepal are its greatest natural resource. Education, is the key to unlocking that vast potential and solving Nepal’s poverty problem. KarmaFlights was founded in 2011, by a small group of adventure athletes, together with visionary local school teacher, Prem Bahadur Kunwar. We initially came together, with the shared objective of providing a safe home, and educational support, for a group of eight at-risk children. From this, KarmaFlights activity has expanded today, to include large-scale emergency disaster relief; long-term kinship and merit scholarships; school, library and computer-lab construction; hydro, solar and road infrastructure support; water, hygiene, livestock, and child-nutrition programs; waste management; earthquake preparedness training; and medical, mental, and dental health camps. These initiatives have saved lives, reduced suffering and extended professional and personal development opportunities to thousands of children. Join us as a volunteer or donor today. Invest in purpose, not for profit.

Today, on Martyrs' Day, we bow our heads in deep respect to the brave martyrs who sacrificed their lives for Nepal’s freedom, dignity, and democratic values.

Their courage and selflessness remind us that the rights we enjoy today were built on sacrifice. Honoring them means not only remembering their names, but also carrying forward their dreams—of justice, equality, peace, and a better future for all.

At KarmaFlights Foundation, we remain committed to serving communities with integrity and compassion, inspired by the values our martyrs stood for.

Salute to our martyrs. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.

3rd Nepal Bird Fair | Lumbini Nepal

The 3rd Nepal Bird Fair successfully concluded in Lumbini, the peaceful birthplace of Lord Buddha, The Light of Asis, bringing together 200+ bird lovers, researchers, students, and conservationists from 7 countries.

Organised by Pokhara Bird Society and accompanied by BCN, Friends of Nature, Nepal Ornithological Union as well as bird & nature guides from across Nepal, the fair created a shared platform to speak for birds’ voices, rights, and pain, while promoting eco-tourism through birding.

The event also included birdwatching around Lumbini and the Jagadishpur Watershed, where participants observed beautiful winter migratory birds. Their long journeys reminded us of our own travel from Pokhara to Lumbini, made even more special by the warm hospitality we received.
Karmaflights wants to thank the organizer for this platform to learn, meet wonderful birder and
Enthusiasts.

Let us love our birds and welcome them as our guests, navigator and friends.

48th Anniversary & Parents’ Day Celebration | Shree Harisiddi Basic School, Dhikidanda

Yesterday, we were honored to attend the 48th Anniversary and Parents’ Day of Shree Harisiddi Basic School, Dhikidanda—a school that holds a very special place in our journey.

KarmaFlights Foundation has been walking alongside this school since the establishment of our organization, and it was heartwarming to once again be part of a celebration filled with students’ smiles, parents’ pride, and the dedication of teachers.

On this meaningful occasion, we were pleased to add NPR 10,000 to the school’s Endowment Fund, continuing our commitment to support quality education and long-term sustainability.

We sincerely thank the school family, parents, teachers, and students for the warm welcome and inspiring program. Together, we remain committed to nurturing education and empowering young minds

Wonderful meeting with Mr. Ashok Dalli, CEO, and the dedicated team at EduTech Nepal HQ in Sanepa, Lalitpur, today!
We had a fruitful discussion on the current progress of ICT computer labs, teacher training initiatives, and plans for upgrading existing labs across the country.
On behalf of KarmaFlights Foundation, we reaffirmed our strong commitment to working together to establish world-class ICT technological labs, as agreed, without compromising on the quality of education or infrastructure.
This year, we are collaborating with six secondary schools, including two schools in Humla, and aim to complete the installation of all labs within this academic year.
Heartfelt thanks to Mike and Cheryl Chisholm for your vision and kindness. Together with you and our partners, we are proud to be part of this mission: transforming education through technology 💻

Happy Basanta Panchami (Shree Panchami)

Today we celebrate Basanta Panchami, a beautiful festival that welcomes spring and honors Goddess Saraswati, the source of knowledge, wisdom, music, and creativity.

On this sacred day, students, teachers, and artists seek blessings for learning, clarity, and growth. Shree Panchami is also known as the symbolic first day of education, reminding us of the vital role teachers play in shaping young minds and building the future.

May this Basanta Panchami inspire curiosity, creativity, and lifelong learning in us all.

Happy Maghe Sankranti 2082!

On this auspicious day, as the sun begins its northward journey, we welcome longer days, warmth, and renewed hope. Maghe Sankranti reminds us of balance with nature, gratitude for the harvest, and the joy of sharing nourishing food and togetherness.

May this festival bring good health, positivity, and warmth to your home and heart—especially in the cold winter days.

Warm wishes from all of us at KarmaFlights Foundation Nepal.

Strengthening Partnerships for Greater Impact

This morning, the KarmaFlights Foundation team had a review meeting with our valued partner Metal For Nepal at the KarmaFlights office, following the successful completion of the Nyaano (Warm Jacket) Distribution 2025 in Rukum (East).

The meeting was filled with meaningful reflections on the recent winter jacket and shoe distribution along the Sanibheri trail, as well as fruitful discussions on how we can deepen our collaboration and walk together in future initiatives for children and communities in the Himalayas.

From remote schoolyards to our office table, this partnership continues to grow with shared values, trust, and a common purpose—to bring warmth, dignity, and hope where it is needed most.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the Metal For Nepal team for their continued support and commitment. Together, we look forward to creating even greater impact in the days ahead.

Walking the Saanibheri trail towards the Sisne Himal Base Camp in Sisne Rural Municipality–1, Rukum East, our Nyaano (Warm Jacket) Distribution Trek is slowly coming to an end.

This followed our early November jacket distribution in Dolpo, continuing the same commitment to reach children in the most remote Himalayan communities.

There is no road access from the district headquarters in Rukumkot, and electricity remains limited in most villages. The cold is sharp and unforgiving. Yet, what stays with us most is the quiet warmth of the people—the way communities welcomed us and the genuine joy of the children.

Together with Metal for Nepal, the KarmaFlights Foundation team was able to distribute warm jackets and shoes to more than 760 students across six remote schools in Sisne–1. For many of these children, it was the first warm jacket they had ever received.
Snow has not fallen here for last 3 years, but the winter cold still settles deep in the mountains. Seeing the children’s smiles and the resilience of their families reminded us why these long walks matter.

We are deeply grateful to our Adventure With Purpose companions—Ramesh Paudyal (SWN), Flower KC, Shilpa Maske, Suraj Karanranjit, Suraj Timalsina, Pujan Lama, Raju Pariyar, Sovit Thakuri, Subash Paudel, Karmasahi Gharti Magar, Renuka Karki, Bipin Pariyar, Govinda Paudel, and Prem Bahadur Kunwar—as well as Pokhara-based schools, teachers, students, and local entrepreneurs who stood with us. Your trust and generosity carried this journey forward.

As we close the Nyaano Jacket 2025 journey, we do so with gratitude and humility, already preparing to return with renewed purpose for Nyaano Jacket 2026.

A full documentary will be shared in the coming days.

Where Roads End, Warmth Begins: Winter Trek to Sisne Himal

Off we go early this morning at 5 am for the second phase of our winter jacket and shoes distribution trek!
This 9-day journey takes us to the Sisne Himal area, on the foothills of Dolpo and near Shey Phoksundo Lake to its south East.
This work is possible because of your continued solidarity. Our heartfelt thanks to Metal for Nepal, Vera Gloger, SWN, Sanne Demmer, Noren Vein, and many generous friends who contributed through the Cloudbase Foundation and its community.
Today we will have travel nearly 300 kilometres along the East–West Mid-Hill Highway, heading to Rukumkot and onward to Deukhola in Sisne Rural Municipality, Rukum East. This will take 15-18 hours of drive. From there, we begin a seven-day trek, visiting and supporting six schools along the route.
Please stay tuned as we share stories from the trail and the communities we walk with.
