We’re honoured to share that INF Nepal is taking part in the International Leprosy Congress 2025, happening from 7–9 July in Bali, Indonesia. A team of 11 members from INF Nepal is attending the event. Our team is presenting 5 scientific papers and 3 posters to share our work on leprosy.

We’re also proud to join hands with the Leprosy Research Initiative, who are presenting 2 scientific papers and 1 poster. Team includes Arjan Knulst, Corine Knulst-Verlaan, and Dr Suraj Maharjan.

Inclusive Patient Care Through Learning Sign Language
(सांकेतिक भाषाशिक्षाद्वारा समावेशी बिरामी सेवा)

We are proud to share that 24 staff members from various departments have completed a three-month Nepali Sign Language training, advancing our goal of accessible healthcare for all.

The training, led by Ms. Parbati Bhujel, Vice President of the Gandaki Association for the Deaf community, equips our team to better serve patients with hearing impairments.

The impact is clear-recently, an OPD staff member used sign language to help a patient communicate effectively during a dermatology appointment.

Here are glimpses from the graduation ceremony, where staff celebrated this important milestone and the role of sign language in inclusive care.

At Green Pastures, we remain committed to creating a compassionate healthcare environment that leaves no one behind.

Happy World Environment Day 2025 from INF Nepal !

At INF Nepal, we believe that caring for the environment is our responsibility, a MANDATE. It encourages us to look closely at nature and find simple, nature-based solutions that help both people and the planet. We try to live in a way that is kind to the environment. This means using less, creating less waste, and following the idea of reduce, reuse, and recycle. Climate change is a burning issue in today's world and is equally important to us. We know that the Earth is a gift, and we are responsible for looking after it. By using resources wisely, cutting down waste, and raising awareness, we can help protect our world. These small steps can make a big difference for future generations.

Let’s all commit to taking care of our environment today.

Celebrating Uniqueness: GPH Speech Therapy Hosts “इन्द्रेणीका रङहरू” Water Party for Children with Autism

On Thursday, 15 May, the Speech Therapy Department at Green Pastures Hospital (GPH) organized a joyful water party called “इन्द्रेणीका रङहरू” (Colours of the Rainbow) for children with autism and their families.

At GPH, we believe in life in all its fullness and that includes children of all abilities. Our therapy services follow a play-based and child-led approach that helps children grow in ways that feel natural and enjoyable to them. Instead of focusing on strict rules or pressure, we support children using evidence-based and neurodiversity-affirming practices that respect their unique ways of playing, learning, and communicating.

This water party was a chance for children to enjoy a day full of fun without pressure. It was filled with joy, acceptance, and togetherness. Some children splashed in the swimming pool, played with soapy water, threw water balloons, and sang songs. Others enjoyed quieter activities like painting in the shade or exploring the textures of colourful water beads.

A highlight of the event was the arrival of the snacks trolley. It brought smiles all around as children and families enjoyed their favourite treats together.

The event reflected the heart of our work. We aim to create safe and inclusive spaces where every child is free to express themselves, connect in their own way, and be celebrated for who they are.

Green Pastures Hospital

Green Pastures Hospital (GPH) has a long history of serving the poor and marginalized people of Western Nepal by providing medical and rehabilitation services. Over the past many decades, the work has focussed on the neglected medical conditions such as leprosy, spinal cord injuries, cerebral palsy and hearing disabilities. The vision of GPH is now to expand its ability to serve western Nepal by becoming a Centre of Excellence Referral Centre. We will continue to focus on disability but expand to include other neglected areas of health care including trauma, spinal disorders, palliative care developmental paediatric disorders and specialized rehabilitation medicine. Most of these services are not presently available to the people of western Nepal.
