💜 At MindfulWell Collective, Te Whare Tapa Whā sits at the heart of how we understand and nurture wellbeing.
This beautiful model, created by Sir Mason Durie, reminds us that true hauora (wellbeing) is built on balance, like a whare with four strong walls:
🌿 Taha tinana – our physical wellbeing
💭 Taha hinengaro – our mind and emotions
✨ Taha wairua – our spirit and sense of purpose
🤍 Taha whānau – our relationships and connections
When each wall is cared for, the whole whare our whole self stands strong.
At MindfulWell, we honour this kaupapa in everything we do supporting wāhine and youth to reconnect, restore, and rise in wellbeing.

✨ Introducing The Gentle Start Project ✨
Every mother deserves a gentle start.

We’re launching The Gentle Start Project, care packs for young or expecting mums across West Auckland who are entering motherhood with limited support.

Each pack includes essentials like nappies, wipes, sanitary items, and self-care goods, small comforts that remind every māmā she’s not alone. 💜

You can help us fill these packs:
🧺 Donate baby or self-care items
💌 Donate a full pack
🌸 Partner with us or host a collection

Together, we can help more young women begin their motherhood journey with dignity, warmth, and care.

Thank you to our community partner

Scrolling & Self-Worth, What Our Teens Are Seeing Online.

Did you know that 79% of young people aged 12–24 in Aotearoa say they’ve seen social media posts that made them feel negatively about their body, social situation, or background.
Source: YWCA New Zealand & Pretty Smart, Body Image Report, 2020

And a more recent study of rangatahi aged 14–17 highlights that social media and online content can have a significant influence on how teens see themselves, shaping their wellbeing and self-perception.
Source: Classification Office & Netsafe, Digital Reflections, 2024 report

In 2026 we’re continuing to support young people through our Youth Wellbeing Programme: Unfiltered, delivered in schools to help teens navigate digital spaces mindfully and foster a kinder, more grounded relationship with themselves online and offline.

💜 Let’s help our teens see themselves with compassion, not comparison.

In Aotearoa, 1 in 3 wāhine will experience abuse in their lifetime, a reality that impacts not only individuals but whole generations deeply affecting the wellbeing of individuals, families, whānau, and communities.
Violence and abuse are not always visible they can take many forms, including:
• Emotional or psychological abuse – manipulation, intimidation, or control
• Financial abuse – restricting access to money or essential resources
• Sexual abuse – any unwanted or coerced sexual activity
• Physical abuse – harm, threats, or intimidation through force
• Spiritual or cultural abuse – using beliefs, culture, or identity to control or diminish another
These patterns of harm can continue across generations, but through awareness, education, and trauma-informed support, we can help break intergenerational cycles of trauma and create pathways for collective healing and resilience.
Certain groups are disproportionately impacted and may face barriers in accessing the right support, including wāhine, tamariki, rangatahi, Māori, Pacific peoples, disabled people, older adults, rainbow, and ethnic communities.
We are committed to fostering awareness, safety, and empowerment, supporting our communities to heal, reconnect, and rise together.
