As we wrap up the year, our team would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all our clients, colleagues, and community partners for your trust and support throughout 2025. It has been a privilege to walk alongside you in your wellbeing journey.

Our practice will be closed from 22 December 2025.
We will re-open for urgent cases from 5 January 2026,
and resume all non-urgent appointments from 12 January 2026.

We hope you enjoy a safe, restful, and meaningful holiday season.

Recently, many U.S. states have introduced regulations that restrict the use of Al in mental health therapy, requiring a licensed physician or mental health professional to be involved.

Al cannot provide therapy independently.

What are you thoughts in this?
What role do you think Al should play in mental health support?
Is Al safe enough without professional supervision?

Jessica Gu, psychologist, had the opportunity and honour to present at the Psychological Society Conference held in Hamilton this weekend. Jessica shared findings from a longitudinal neuroimaging study examining the effects of repetitive head impacts (RHI) in adolescent male rugby players. Even without a diagnosed concussion, players can experience hundreds of RHIs over a season, and these cumulative head impacts can distrust brain functioning. From 🇳🇿 to 🇳🇱!
We are so proud of our student Tessa! She joined Auckland Mental Wellness Centre after completing her Bachelor of Psychology at the University of Otago. From the very beginning, she has brought warmth, dedication, and a genuine passion for learning and supporting others.

Now, she is taking the next exciting step in her journey — heading to Maastricht University in the Netherlands to pursue her Master’s degree in Psychology! 🎓

We couldn’t be happier to see her achieve this milestone, and we know she will thrive in this next chapter. Tessa Gribben thank you for everything you’ve contributed here. We will miss you dearly, but we’re also wishing you all the very best on this exciting new adventure!

Student Placement Opportunity in a Psychology Practice

We are offering a 150-hour student placement opportunity at our psychology practice, ideal for psychology students wanting to gain real-world experience in the psychology field.

This role focuses on non-clinical tasks, including:
- Administrative support
- Reception duties

Exciting News! 🎉 We are thrilled to announce that our principal psychologist, Jessica Gu, has been accepted for presentation at the New Zealand Psychological Society Conference, taking place from 28–31 August 2025 in Hamilton!
She will be presenting on: "Relationship between task-based fMRI activity during working memory task and mTBI-related symptoms in Adolescent Rugby Players: A Longitudinal Neuroimaging Study."
