💪 Why Do My Muscles and Joints Feel So Sore Lately? 🦴

Do you feel like you’re 80 when you get out of bed in the morning?

Do you get that stiff, creaky, achy feeling in your hips, shoulders or knees?

If you’re in peri-menopause or menopause, those aches and pains could be your hormones talking!

In fact, for some women, sore muscles and joints show up even more than hot flushes or night sweats.

So, what’s going on with your hormones?

Estrogen and progesterone do so much more than regulate your period.

They help protect your joints, muscles, and bones too.
When these hormone levels start to fluctuate and drop, a few things can happen:

Less estrogen = more inflammation which may cause sore, stiff joints and aching muscles.

Less progesterone = slower muscle recovery and poorer sleep which may lead to more fatigue and tension.

Bone density can decline too, making joints feel less cushioned and more sensitive.

This is also the time when sarcopenia (loss of muscle mass) can begin, which can make your body feel weaker or sorer after physical activity.

This doesn’t have to be your new normal.

With the right support, you can calm inflammation, rebuild strength, and start feeling like yourself again.

The teen years can be a wild ride of emotions, moods and changes for both our kids and us! 😅

Between acne breakouts, heavy or painful periods, big mood swings, cramps that take them out for a day (or three).

If symptoms can take them our for days this can be an early sign of endometriosis.

It can all feel confusing, awkward, and overwhelming.

As parents, we just want to help them feel better, right?

It’s easy to be told the quick fix is to go on the pill or get a hormonal IUD to get rid of certain hormonal symptoms.

What if there’s another way?

💫 “We can’t be on all the time, right?” 💫

Someone wrote this to me recently when it was their time of the month and it really landed deeply.

Late last week, my cycle started. My energy dropped, things that usually felt easy suddenly felt a bit heavier.

I noticed myself becoming more emotional and sensitive to things people said or did.

It’s like my body and heart were saying, “slow down, please.”

So I listened.

🚶‍♀️ I took slower walks.
🧘‍♀️ Gave myself more quiet moments.
🙅‍♀️ Said no to a weekend event because rest felt more important.

Our bodies hold so much innate wisdom and they know what we need if we stop and pause long enough to listen.

So if you’re feeling extra sensitive, tired or emotional. It’s not “you being weak.”

Whether it’s your period, peri-menopause or menopause, these hormonal shifts are not a sign of weakness.

They’re gentle nudges from your body to come back to yourself, a reminder to soften, to rest and to nurture your inner world.

Around 60–70% of women experience brain fog during peri-menopause and menopause.
