This weekend, some of the incredible women from our team laced up their running shoes and took on Round the Bays in Auckland 🏃‍♀️

It was a fantastic opportunity to step outside the workplace, support one another, and take part in one of Auckland’s most iconic community events. We’re proud to work alongside such a strong group of women who bring passion, dedication, and collaboration to our team every day.

Here’s to the women who continue to support, uplift, and inspire action, both in science and beyond.

5 More Things That Might Surprise You About Clinical Trials 🔬

Clinical research is often more participant-friendly than people expect. Here are five more things you may not know:

1️⃣ Many trials reimburse participants for their time and travel
2️⃣ Not all trials involve new medicines, some focus on devices, lifestyle changes, or improving existing treatments
3️⃣ You do not have to be unwell to take part, some studies involve healthy volunteers
4️⃣ Every study must be approved by an independent ethics committee
5️⃣ Taking part helps improve care for future generations

Clinical trials are carefully designed, highly regulated, and centred around participant wellbeing.

FAQ – Do I Get Paid?

A common question we often hear is “Do participants get compensated?” 💬

All of our studies offer reimbursement for time and travel. The amount varies depending on the trial. Transparency matters, and we will ensure you are always informed before you decide to join a trial.

This week is Heart Failure Awareness Week, an important time to raise awareness about a condition that affects hundreds of thousands of people across New Zealand.

Heart failure doesn’t mean the heart has stopped; it means the heart isn’t pumping as well as it should.

Knowing the symptoms can help people seek support earlier, including:
✅ Breathlessness during activity or rest
✅ Swelling in the feet, ankles, or legs
✅ Fatigue and reduced ability to exercise
✅ Sudden weight gain from fluid build-up

At Pacific Clinical Research Network, we encourage everyone to prioritise heart health through regular check-ups, healthy lifestyle choices, and early action when symptoms appear.

Your heart health matters - don’t ignore the signs.
