MORE HENS TO RESCUE (Auckland)
On Sunday we uplifted 400 young hens that were scheduled for cull (that means slaughter). Of the 1600 hens we couldn't take, 800 are being killed today. But the other 800 aren't scheduled until next Wednesday, and the farmer has offered for us to take more. Sooooo... we're doing an extra rescue on Tuesday! Ronni has been on the phone and computer absolutely non-stop, interviewing possible adopters. If we can find homes for all the hens we took on Sunday, then we'll have empty barns that we can fill up again on Tuesday. Vital new gear arriving for Zach's new pulling harness - small pouches to put keys and medication in (I have had so many near misses dropping keys down drains) plus a cute tiny LED torch to keep us both safe in the evening. Thanks to the Kerr Taylor Trust for the funding for gear, we REALLY appreciate it.
