I’ve been reflecting on what it feels like to receive a daily massage here in Thailand for the equivalent of NZ$12–15. While this may seem inexpensive to us, it holds real value for the livelihoods of Thai practitioners. From a practitioner’s perspective, it feels important to allow myself to be nourished and restored, especially given how much energy I offer to clients and workshops each year. At the same time, this experience has highlighted my relationship with receiving and worthiness, and how my giving and receiving have not always been in balance.
Each session invites me to drop into my body, notice where tension is held, and practice softening and letting go. The varying quality of treatments has also been a reminder that touch transmits presence and care—technical skill alone isn’t enough.
I also notice my mind wanting to analyse techniques and integrate them into my own work, and I’m learning to gently quiet that impulse and return to simple presence.

Happy New Year! Here is to another transformational year💖 I look forward to sharing my healing sessions and events in the coming months. My sabbatical reset to Thailand and Laos has done the trick and I feel buzzing with fresh energy. But another week in beautiful Chiang Mai to go. Summer will be in full force when I return back to New Zealand and I will be attending Dimension to have some fun dancing and co-creating at Wendy’s Wellness at the last ever Splore festival. 😢 In February, I will be teaching The Equipaws Method Animal Okuden Reiki and there will be opportunities for students who are called to do Shinpinden Master Level Reiki this year.
