You may have heard of Movember, but what is it about?

Movember takes place over the month of November, to raise awareness for men's health issues, particularly mental health, su***de prevention, and prostate and testicular cancer.

Over November people are encouraged to get involved in many ways, such as by growing a moustache, or running or walking 60km for the 60 men we lose to su***de each hour worldwide.

Starting in 2003 the movement has since funded more than 1,320 men's health projects around the world, challenging the status quo, shaking up men’s health research and transforming the way health services reach and support men.

Have you been vaccinated for measles?

This week, 3 - 7 November, is national Measles Immunisation week. With the growing number of measles cases in Aotearoa, it is important to ensure that you and your whānau are protected.

Measles is one of the most infectious human diseases, spread through the air from coughing and sneezing, or by touching a contaminated surface.

If you think you have measles symptoms, please stay home and do not leave the house. You can call us on 09 550 2146 or call Healthline on 0800 611 116 for us to advise next steps.

Measles locations of interest in New Zealand can be found here: https://info.health.nz/conditions-treatments/infectious-diseases/about-measles/measles-locations-of-interest-in-aotearoa-new-zealand

Most people receive the MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) vaccine over two doses, at 12 and 15 months old. If you are not sure if you had this vaccine, it is safe to have this vaccine again as an adult.

Get in touch with our reception team on 09 550 2146 if you have any questions or concerns.
